Nice visit

Beautiful grounds and overall good stay. However, they had a technical issue where the cafe could not charge things directly to the room number and the manager came up to the staff member and in front of us, the guests, was very abrubt and rude. Customer service on this was not good and I felt for the nice lady who was serving us. He needed to take a step back and relax and be polite to the staff.

This is a gorgeous old hotel but it needs a little attention. The wallpaper in our room was peeling and the paint in the bathroom was also peeling. The hairdryer in the room didn’t work. The staff was polite, but not warm. One of the lamps on the bedside was broken. It just needs some TLC. The barista in the basement cafe looked like she had never used a milk frother in her life. I think I just expected more from The Fairmount. On the bright side, the amenities are great and plentiful and the location is absolutely stunning. A little investment and care would go a long way to making this beautiful, historic place that much more special and spectacular.

Grand hotel

Our room looked out on a children’s inflated jumping toy that was unattractive. The walk to the parking lot was long, and checkout was chaotic. The food was excellent and the grounds well groomed and beautiful. Loved the planet trail!

We were at the Manoir Richelieu for two nights to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We have stayed at other Fairmont hotels in the past. At the price we paid, we were expecting the best but were disappointed. Our room was excellent. It was large, very clean and had a beautiful view of the river although it was difficult taking photographs because of condensation on the window. We had excellent meals at the two restaurants but even with a reservation there were long line-ups to get in and then we had to wait a long time to get service. However, on our anniversary dinner in the St. Laurent after we had waited over 20 minutes for any service, the supervisor/Maitre-d', recently arrived from France, came to our rescue and ensured that we were looked after for the rest of the evening. Parking was abyssmal. The closest available lot was inaccessible due to construction so we were forced to parking P8 which was a long hill climb away. We could not find the location of the pool as there are no signs for the pool.

Beautiful surroundings, attentive staff, excellent cuisine. Our rooms was too small and so was the bed. Room 436 is suitable for one person not 2. This was the only drawback.
