The hotel is older but in a very tasteful way. Our room was pleasantly large and had a lovely view of trees and pond. We visited the chashitsu ( tea house) , so elegant. I can't speak of breakfast or dinner both seemed a bit expensive. So we ate at close by places. Enjoyed our time in Kyoto sorry to leave.

Extremely clean and spacious rooms. Located in more of a park setting near the exhibition hall. Very easy access to the underground which is very clean, efficient and reasonably priced. Approximately 20 minutes from station to Kyoto downtown and JR station. The rooms themselves almost have a bit of a retro feel but in new condition. Very peaceful and tranquil rooms and nice bathrooms. Would definitely recommend.

Conference trip, else would never have stayed here. Arrived early and wanted to check in at 12 noon, instead of 3 pm. My room was ready, empty, and I had to pay Yes 1,000 for every half hour early, so I agreed to pay, as I had work to attend to. Paid and got my room key in minutes. How do I know my room was ready, although they in a very un-Japanese way) lied. I had requested for a memory foam pillow, and when I got to my room the pillow was already there. So the room was ready and the hotel did not accomodate an early arrival, something I have never expereinced before. Of course they justified it as "hotel policy", which I can understand, but saying room was not-ready, and was pending turn-around Housekeeping - completely worng and never experienced before. Breakfast was simple, boring, and nothing fresh. Though it would end at 1030am, at 920 am they were out of bakeries, and staff was very indifferent. Sad experience of Japanese hospitality. Room: basic, aged towels! TV: Only CNN as a English Channel, rest only Japanese or (maybe) Korean, none of which I speak.
