This was a lovely hotel! Great location close to the metro and only two stops up from Kyoto Station; it’s right next to the market and a lot of shopping and restaurants. It was very easy for us to get around to all the sights we wanted to see! The room itself was huge and clean. The beds were possibly the most comfy hotel beds I’ve ever slept in. The staff were very kind and also helped me ship my luggage at the end. We would absolutely stay here again!

We had an excellent stay - great location, comfortable bed - we enjoyed the bar at the end of the day. Fabulous little Izakaya adjacent to the property, and a nice little coffee shop (O'Kaffe) around the corner. Close to the subway (Shijo) and to the Nishiki Market. Good breakfast, two variations - so, maybe for ok two mornings, not for four. Excellent staff.

I've stayed in some of the world's best hotels, and this one is a real gem. I would definitely stay here again. Special shout-out to the amazing staff and the room breakfast, very nicely presented, proportioned and absolutely delicious. The bathtub is so deep and the shower is great. The bed is like a cloud. Very good location, within walking distance of many points of interest in Kyoto, and easy transport links. Thank you so much for making our stay a highlight of our trip to Kyoto

Our stay at the Shijo Takakura Hotel grandreverie was great! It was the most memorable room of our trip to Japan, a great design and lots of space. The stone shower and bathtub were especially luxury. The staff was incredibly attentive. It's the one place we'd immediately go again!

Perfect hotel to relax in after a long day

The hotel was amazing with a tub that I used to relax in after walking several miles. The only thing I could complain about is that there was not a stool in the bathroom to sit while I showered but other than that the hotel was perfect in every way.

We loved our stay. One of the best experience in our travels. Staff is amazing and helpful. Great location, great staff and great room!

The hotel is small-ish but the room is definitely big enough for a great stay! My wife and daughter and myself stayed in the delux twin room for 5 nights and had a great time. And yes, I can confirm that everything good other reviewers on Trip Advisor have stated is true and more. A great overall experience indeed. Will most-likely stay there again next time we visit Kyoto.

I highly recommend Kyoto Shijo Takakura. Location is fantastic with many restaurants nearby. It’s a few mins away from Shijo train station and buses as well as an easy walk to Gion and Nishiki market. Our room was spacious and had great amenities. I can’t say enough about the staff - so friendly and helpful, we absolutely loved our stay.

Amazing hotel in the heart of Kyoto. Impeccable service. Central to so many trains and subways. Restaurants everywhere. Great spot to kick off a visit to Kyoto. Five-stars for sure!
