I love this hotel because it was really close to the bus and subway station. They offer free shuttle to the golden temple and bamboo forest which is a nice feature although we didn’t get a chance to try it because we wanted to start our sightseeing really early. I rated 3 stars for cleanliness due to the bugs/mosquitos found in our room and at the hotel lobby. Other than this minor issue, everything else was excellent.

The property is so accesible via public transportation. The staff is incredible and so helpful. The rooms are a fair size — pretty good for those traveling with families (there were 3 kids and 4 adults).

Great location, just a block from the main Metro line, north of downtown but just south of the Imperial Palace, and just east of Nijo Castle; an easy walk to top eateries, shops, and temples, and easy bus or train to anywhere in the area. Lovely modest facility, at very reasonable prices, with friendly staff offering excellent service, including in English. Rooms were small (as are most in this densely settled country), but quite comfortable. Many pleasant surprises, like free daily shuttles to and from top area sites (Kinkaku-ji / Golden Palace shrine, and Arashiyama's bamboo forests and Tenryu-ji temple), and a free tasting of three kinds of sake each evening. We had a great stay; strongly recommend.

I stayed at this hotel during a business trip. The price was quite low, but the room, facilities, and overall atmosphere felt top-class. I’m not sure why it was so inexpensive, but it was an excellent value. I would definitely recommend staying here.
