Good location but horrible beach area

The hotel is pretty and they try to keep it clean. The included breakfast is nice. There is no beach and the smell from the water was horrible. They try to hide it with incense but it's really strong. The location is great but just don't plan on spending the day at the beach.

The resort is right on the beach. The staff is excellent, and the breakfast was very good. The low tides tended to make the beach a little mucky, but it is hard to help that. The staff did their best to ensure it was clean. The rooms are a little dated but adequate. The transportation that we opted for to and from the airport was very good.

La Palapa has a good location and it’s very quiet if you enjoy quiet . Unfortunately, the beach area is an eye and nose sore of sargassum. It is extremely damp and smelly preventing anyone from enjoying the restaurant or any lounging . It’s best to walk over to other beach clubs $$$ … the hotel staff tries to clean the sargassum daily but it’s never fully ok for views or to swim through. I would NOT stay here again . There are so many better options. The hotel staff will play it off as it’s seasonal but it’s simply not .. they are in a nook that is surrounded by piers, jetties and/or rocks, making the sargassum problem inevitable. I felt really bad for the guys trying to keep it clean bc it’s endless.

Beautiful property, attentive and hard working staff. Great location to town and other beach restaurants. My only complaint was the beach had sargasm every day but one. They worked hard every day to clean it up, but it just keeps coming back!

When visiting the magnificent island of Holbox , Beach front Hotel La Palapa is definitely the place to be. From its warm welcoming from the staff , to its spotless rooms , everything was immaculate. Not to mention its restaurant that is a few feet down from the rooms , which was hands down the best food i’ve had on the island , everything on the menu was very tasty. My partner and I loved the private beach it had to offer as it was one of the cleanest on the island. It was my first time visiting Holbox and definitely won’t be my last , and i know for sure where i’ll be staying.

The hotel definitely isn’t a five-star hotel as it is a little bit rundown in certain places. The beach is being overtaken by the ocean, which they can’t help. But I do have to say for the location price and what it was it was worth the stay. I think if I return to the area, I would book a different hotel, but just for accommodations and service sake.

It is simply impossible to completely eliminate sand when the beach is right outside the front door. So they get 5* for effort. The staff were stellar. With breakfast included, we got to know the restaurant/bar staff pretty well. The front desk staff were equally friendly and helpful. Best guacamole ~ever~.
