The location and the staff are awesome. This is our third time visiting O’ahu and it is great to just be able to walk right onto the beach. Please be mindful that it can get really noisy at night. We asked for a higher floor but for 2 out of the 7 nights, it was pretty loud where our sleep was significantly disrupted. Overall, we prefer a more quiet location.

The location is the best part of this hotel right in the heart of Waikiki with easy beach access, tons of shopping, and plenty to do. Very convenient, especially if you want to be in the middle of everything. I stayed here with my parents and nephew, and we had two rooms. Unfortunately, both felt dated and quite small for the price. Our rooms were directly under Duke’s, and between the live music and constant street traffic, it was very loud. The pool was also small and didn’t feel very relaxing. Overall, the location is great, but the noise, outdated rooms, and tiny pool made the stay less enjoyable. I personally prefer quieter, more resort-style properties like Aulani or Hilton Hawaiian Village

Even our "city view" room had a sliver of ocean viewable from the lovely, breezy balcony. The property is a little bit dated - my one gripe is that the mattresses needed to be replaced (my bed was quite saggy in the middle). However, it was well appointed, spotlessly clean, and run by a friendly and professional staff. We also appreciated the in-room safe, self-serve laundry facilities, pool/beach towel service, and high-quality (if a bit pricey) breakfast options at the Hula Grill downstairs. And the location right on the beach, mere blocks from anything you could need, was impossible to beat. If I am able to return to Waikiki, I will attempt to book my stay here!

I was disappointed with the room. It felt very old and outdated. Several of the electrical outlets barely worked, which was frustrating, and having a refrigerator in the bathroom was strange and unpleasant. Overall, the room was basic at best and definitely did not match the price. That said, the location is the biggest highlight. The hotel is truly in the heart of Waikīkī. You can walk everywhere, and the restaurants, nightlife, and beach access are excellent. The on-site dining and surrounding area are lively and convenient. If you care more about location and atmosphere than room quality, this hotel might work. But if a modern, comfortable room matters to you, this may not be the choice for you.

Staff were great especially housekeeping. Room was good. Beds were comfortable. Rooms are a bit dated and could use a refresh. Beach is wonderful. My real complaint was the location of my room. Yes I did choose city view because I booked 2 rooms and I wanted to save a bit of money. But it is very noisy on this side of hotel. Street noise-cars racing down Kalākaua Ave and general party noise. (Christmas season). Also our room was at the very end facing Cheesecake Factory, and the Royal Hawaiian hotel seemed to be dumping garbage 2-3 times during the night. Dumping steel and such. So much for their noise bylaw. We did let the manager at Outrigger know and they gave us a small discount on both rooms. Also, I booked 2 exact rooms but my kids room was definitely bigger than mine.

Nice location on the beach, very friendly staff, good food in both restaurants, our issue was with the nightly noise on the street, (our room was close to the street side) our room, (especially the bathroom) was fairly small, housekeeping did an excellent job, (room was very clean).

Here is a rewritten version that sounds calmer, clear, and personal while keeping the details and seriousness of your experience: No plans to return. The check-in experience at this resort was very disappointing. We arrived at 11:30 p.m. after a long flight and waited patiently to be acknowledged. There was no greeting, no eye contact, and no sense of being welcomed. Of the three receptionists present, only one was assisting a guest while the other two were chatting or staring at their computers with their heads down for about 20 minutes. When my husband approached one of them, he simply pointed him toward another receptionist and walked away. That staff member then ignored him. When I stepped forward, I was finally asked if I needed help. We had to politely approach multiple staff members just to receive assistance. There was no smile, no explanation of the resort facilities or activities, and no effort to make us feel comfortable. After handing us the room cards, the staff member said nothing further and immediately looked down, focusing on his own tasks. We felt ignored rather than welcomed. This interaction was very upsetting, as I have never experienced such a cold and unprofessional check-in at any hotel before. The room itself was also disappointing. There was an unpleasant, old smell coming from the air conditioner. Even worse, the room faced a back area of the hotel with loud noise at night from loading trucks.
