    What a view!!

We loved this little gem. Spectacular views, a few steps to beach access. We came during a very hot and humid time. There is no a/c and when it rains which for the last 3 days of our staying rained off and on, we had to close the windows and it really heated up. Other then that. Fabulous. Would I stay here again, you bet. Maybe not in August though.

    Loved this place.

Cabin is clean and comfortable. A great spot right on the beach. Good swimming and snorkelling. Central to activities and popular spots on the North Shore. Would definitely stay here again.

    The BEST “Staycation” ever...

As a kama`aina family of 4 (fr O`ahu) we’re always looking for great places to vacay at that’s affordable here at home w/o the “humbug” of flying. After this 4th of July weekend, we’ve finally found the perfect spot!!! No more Turtle Bay... hello Pat’s of Punalu`u...particularly this cottage (owned by Lisa, managed by Terrie). The cottage (closest to the bbq grills) is upstairs & allowed for breezy days/nights. In fact we kept the front door open most times & i was impressed there wasn’t much flies & NO roaches, ants or mosquitoes...and i’m a mosquito magnet always getting bit. Overall the cottage was very clean & well cared for. As for my neighbor, who said their unit was hot & uncomfortable, i felt a lil guilty because we had no such issue whatsoever. NO problem here at Lisa’s cottage... there’s also 2 ceiling fans & 1 portable fan to use too. It definitely made for comfortable cruising/sleeping. Not too mention the soothing sounds of the ocean so close to your windows. And wow, the million dollar views of the crystal clear turquoise ocean was amazing!!! The beach is clean to swim in, has soft sand, is shallow & safe to let the kids swim while watching them from ashore. Best part... it’s private & your not elbow to elbow with people like you see at Ala Moana & Waikiki beach (yuck)! Theres also a gated/fenced in pool that my daughter enjoyed swimming in after sunset & closed at 8 pm. There’s lots of guest lounge chairs/picnic tables placed throughout this nicely manicured property. The cottage was spacious enough for 4 people to move around in & had a fully stocked kitchen allowing us to eat in thereby saving money. There’s a full size washer/dryer free to use downstairs too which allowed me to pack light & do a load before going home 😬. Last but most importantly, i must mention how great the communication is between Lisa & her prop mgr Terrie. Lisa ALWAYS answered my emails quickly & Terrie was a tremendous help! Upon ck in, there was a small hiccup, the main ceiling fan didn’t work. It was late in the afternoon-after working hours, & the next day was the 7/4 holiday. Honestly, i wasn’t expecting repairs to happen until Friday 7/5, but Terrie sent a repairman asap on the holiday. How awesome was that!! During the meantime, she offered up her own personal fans for us to use. I was moved by her generosity & compassion. Terrie truly embodies the ALOHA spirit & cares about her guests! Book Lisa’s cottage, i promise, you will have a GREAT time!

10 stars for the view and location. -10 stars for the property management.

We arrive on a Friday evening wet and sandy from an afternoon at the beach to find it that the water had been shut off 3 hours prior and no one had contacted us from the property. When we called, the property manager, Kerry, told us that the water was out on the whole island. But when we contacted friend staying on the North Shore and our resort we had stayed up the night before, no one seem to indicate there was an issue with their water. So it was an isolated incident. She told us if we wanted any more information on the water we needed to watch the news, which we did, and nothing was ever mentioned about the water situation on the news. Meanwhile, we could not use the toilet, cook dinner, rinse off, babies, or anything else needing water. I tried to have a discussion about getting a refund for the stay, but the property manager refused and told me that not having a toilet would be like “old Hawaii”. I had to take my kids to the gas station 5 miles away to use the toilet. After getting no help from the property manager about when she thought the water would Be restored, and multiple unanaswered texts from her, we contacted the water district who said it might be 48 hours. We found an opening in a local hotel, but the property manager said we would not be refunded any money. So after waiting for VRBO to get involved (which they wound up taking 4 days to do) I fell asleep - sandy and convered in salt. I awoke at 8 am and needed to pee so badly to the point of crying. But I was not insured to drive the rental car to the gas station. I looked for updates from property manager and water district. Nothing. So I woke my husband to take me to the gas station. On our way out we checked the water. It was working. So I texted the property manager who said “yeah. It went on at 4am”. So she knew we were distressed but didn’t bother to let us know. In addition to the water fiasco, the property had no dishwashing soap for the dishwasher (even though dishes are to be left cleaned and dried and replaced after the stay), 1/3 roll of toilet paper for our 4 day stay, less than half a roll of paper towel and no trash bags (even though all trash must be taken out upon check out). The property was gorgeous- very clean, perfect location and right on the beach. If it had been properly managed, it would have been a magical stay.

    5/5 Excellent

Clean , sufficient , exactly as the pictures on VRBO , 15-20 steps to water, little serene paradise

Both Lisa and Teri are very approachable and helpful. The place was kept tidy and clean. Sufficiently stocked to give you a heads start. Beach gear was on the property. Washer and dryer just below the unit. The unit is located on the second level and as soon as you open the door you are welcomed to a beautiful view of the ocean. We relished the soothing sounds of the water in the nights and woke up to wonderful sunrises. The location was wonderful right on the beach , we were a family of 2 adults, a 10 year old and a 6 yr old . Kids loved the beach . It was calm with no big waves and beach was clean and not crowded at all. Sleeping arrangements for kids the two futons served the purpose. If you want to choose a place away from the maddening crowd then this is it. I would definitely recommend this place either for 2 adults or 2 adults with 2 kids . The place felt secure and safe. Most of the attractions on the island were within 1 hr drive. Lots of additional beaches nearby and also shrimp truck and some other food trucks within 5 min walk . Grocery stores Tamura and Longs 5-7 min drive. Polynesian Cultural Centre is about 10-15 min drive. To sum it up it was a wonderful experience and we enjoyed every moment.
