We loved the Maison d'Orient! Such a charming location and our room was very comfortable and clean. We stayed another night in Hanoi later in our trip and were genuinely sad to be at another hotel... We will definitely come back!

Caulk in bath was literally black. So may mosquitos. Air conditioning fully didn’t work. There weren’t sheets under the main one on top on the twin bed. Room was not cleaned while I was out. Room was so dark I legitimately couldn’t see anything, not sure how they got the photos they did of the room because it had 0 natural light. I’ve stayed in Hanoi 3 times now (the other places I’ve stayed were full). Do not go here.

We stayed in the Star Anise room, which was spacious, and the staff are really nice, however the bathroom had mould all over and the room generally wasn't very clean. For us, the immediate surroundings weren't very nice at all and you can smell the stink from outside coming into the room. A step up from a hostel, but a massive step down from a decent hotel.

Staff were gracious and kind- the breakfast was wonderful especially tho Pho! We loved the location as it was walking distance to all the chaos and sites, but was out of the way enough we could catch our breath and relax. Charming!
