Spend the night in a historic landmark with a view of the trees in the heart of the old town

Located in the heart of Halberstadt’s Old Town, the “former paint factory” sits below Domplatz. By March 2025, this historic, listed building—which features 4 vacation apartments—had been lovingly renovated and furnished with antiques. Great care was taken to preserve all historical details and use sustainable materials. The guesthouse is an absolute gem. You can park your car in the nearby parking lot—everything else can be explored on foot or by tram!
Your apartment is located on the 1st floor of the building, right in the heart of the old town. Be careful—the staircase is quite crooked and takes some getting used to, but it’s an original. Just make sure you’re not drunk the first time you go up ;-)) In front of the building is a small square with old linden trees, so you’ll wake up to a view of the trees every morning. You enter the apartment directly through the golden-yellow kitchen. There’s space here for a kitchenette with two burners, a refrigerator, and a sink. Nevertheless, the kitchen should have everything you need for your stay as a couple, especially a coffee maker, a kettle, and a microwave.
The 25-square-meter room features not only a wonderfully cozy 180x200 cm bed and a wardrobe, but also a dining table for two and a writing desk. The original hardwood floor has been preserved here.
The bathroom is very cozy and equipped with a walk-in shower, sink, and toilet. The kitchen and entryway feature new oak planks; the front door is quite old, as you can tell from the Baroque hardware (18th century).
We deliberately chose not to include a TV, since there’s so much to discover in Halberstadt. Instead, we have a fiber-optic connection for reliable Wi-Fi.
When selecting materials, we prioritized quality and sustainability: radiant ceiling heating, clay plaster, linseed oil paints, and hand-mixed wall paints not only ensure a comfortable living environment but also add authenticity—just like our antiques and flea market finds. Everything’s a little wonky and worn, but genuine! We hope you’ll enjoy it just as much as we do.
Sights, restaurants, and shopping are all within easy walking distance; the tram to the train station stops just a few hundred meters away at the Johannisbrunnen.
You’ll be staying in a very quiet location right in the heart of the Old Town—please be considerate of the neighbors. In the summer, open-air concerts take place in the beer garden of the Hotel Halberstädter Hof—the atmosphere is wonderful.
Upon booking, you’ll receive an access code for the front door and instructions on where to find the apartment key. We’d also love to meet you and show you around in person.
