We absolutely loved our stay at Mahana House. The staff was always available and attentive to our needs. The location is excellent. The beauty of the surroundings is what Hawaii is all about. I had tea in the common kitchen area every morning and it was always spotless. It is also conveniently located to Hilo and close to scenic spots such as Waipio.

The property grounds were beautiful and serene. We were so happy we chose this place outside the hustle and bustle of Hilo. The trip into Hilo was about 20 minutes, but the drive was beautiful and worth the peacefulness of the property. There were many sites to see within a few miles, such as Akaka falls and the Botanical Gardens.

Our stay at Mahana House was wonderful! Beautiful setting, room was clean, very comfortable bed and we had our own private lanai and small kitchen, as well as use of the common full kitchen, great room and lanai. Every possible thing we could have needed was available to us. It is obvious the owners put a lot of thought into our comfort. An easy 20 drive in to Hilo. Thank you, Mahana House, for a fabulous stay! I highly recommend!!!

On top of that, the owner is an incredibly kind person who has adopted disabled cats — which honestly made the experience even more special. Such a big heart and genuine hospitality.
