Haus of the Setting Sun faces west at the top of Ski View Drive in Panorama Point, above Ober Gatlinburg. Every evening from the deck or the hot tub you watch the sun drop behind the Smoky Mountain ridgeline while Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg light up below. One guest told us it looked like a little village on a movie set. That's about right.
We bought Setting Sun because we already had Rising Sun across the street and we weren't ready to stop. Same mountain, same elevation, same reason — there's something up here that's hard to explain until you've been here. We kept both.
THE SPACE
The cabin sleeps 5. Downstairs is a king master suite with a full en-suite bath and French doors that open directly onto the deck — step outside for morning coffee or evening views without leaving the bedroom. Upstairs is a second king suite with a Jacuzzi jetted tub positioned at the window so you can soak while watching the mountains, plus a twin kids nook off the bedroom. The living area has a wood-burning fireplace available October through March. Overstuffed leather sofa and chair. Full kitchen equipped for real meals. Three TVs with Xumo streaming throughout.
OUTDOOR LIVING
The deck is the center of the stay. The hot tub faces the sunset view to the west. Gas grill with propane, outdoor dining table, rocking chairs. The community pool is a short walk and open Memorial Day through Labor Day.
We self-manage both cabins and are reachable when guests need us. After years of vacationing here ourselves, we take that seriously.
BOOKING BOTH CABINS?
Haus of the Rising Sun is directly across the street and sleeps 7. Together both cabins sleep 12 with separate spaces and shared mountaintop views. Good for reunions, multi-family trips, and groups that want to be together without being on top of each other.
