Royal Palms saved us! We checked in to an Airbnb that was just horrible and needed to call an audible. We found Royal Palms on Expedia and seamlessly booked our stay. Once we arrived at the Royal Palms, the staff took care of us and allowed us to relax. Between carrying our bags up to our room and preparing delicious pool-side food, we were very happy with the staff. The property is definitely a bit on the older side and isn’t especially fancy, but the service and location more than makes up for it. In fact, we barely left the neighborhood due to all of the nice mom and pop establishments in the area (and the fact that the beach is 1-2 min walk away). Great bang for your buck, definitely recommend!

The Royal Palms is in definite need of some TLC. While the room was spacious and clean, with good quality bedding, the mattress was old and had a few uncomfortable sags in it. The property is in rough shape with broken and aging furniture throughout the grounds. The gardens don't appear to be maintained and everything is in need of a good power washing and a coat of paint. While it appears to be a gated property, the gates were always unlocked or open and the entire property is open and accessible to the public. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful though they were often hard to reach because one person supports the front desk for a few nearby properties. This means you often need to use a call button to summon the front desk staff and it can take them up to ten minutes to appear. The Royal Palms is a member of the North Beach Village, a conglomerate of six or seven properties of similar vintage and quality. This property doesn't feature any bells and whistles but it does have welcoming staff, ample parking, and a fantastic location, just two blocks from the beach. Great for a budget-conscious traveller who prefers a beach to a "resort".
