Outside, the private setting on 2.9 acres of woods and lawn provides opportunities for you to enjoy the view and the fresh air, birdwatch by day, stargaze by night, and if you hike the nature trail behind the home, you may meet one of the adorable red salamanders who are our namesake! A seven minute drive brings you to the Blue Ridge Parkway or to the quaint town of Floyd with arts, music, food and wine from local farms.

Lisa and I had a lovely stay at the Salamander house in Floyd, it's well-appointed and has a magical view from the front porch; very convenient to nice restaurants and area attractions; Pat Vaughn is a very attentive host. Highly recommend.

The property itself was exceptionally nice. It was new (looking at least), well appointed and conveniently located. The coffee and milk in the fridge were very nice touches. The front porch is the best feature, nice view, very relaxing and a nice place to relax after the day.I felt the photos oversold the privacy aspects a bit. The back deck is in a direct line of view to the adjacent home. The front porch is sheltered from that and even though the view is across the street, a nice view clearing through the trees makes it feel not only private but very serene. The only other comment is that Google sends you down the unpaved portion of the road leading to the property. The dirt and gravel has created a washboard that will threaten to rattle a tooth out. There is a little longer, but much easier on the shocks and teeth, approach to the property.I would feel very comfortable in recommending this property.
