Disappointing. First, the good: location, roof deck, common space decor, cleanliness, staff warmth. Second, the not so good: room design, quality of room finishing, layout of property, breakfast quality. Overall: this felt like a good four star hotel rather than a five star. We were in the smallest room category and had no complaints about the size, but the layout of the room and materials used in finishing the room fell far short of a five star experience. There is nothing wrong with the property, but if you are expecting a five star experience, lower your expectations.

Great property but way understaffed

The rooms are beautiful and the property is well located and well decorated. However, it was severely understaffed from the concierge desk, to the check-in desk, to the bar. I waited a long time at every juncture (was particularly stressful when I needed my car parked), which was a big surprise for the price paid.

Amazing stay at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh! The location was super convenient in the heart of the old town by Victoria Street, and it felt super safe. The decor was tasteful and had a bit of quirky fun personality, and the room was equipped with everything we could possibly need. The service from everyone was fantastic and a special shoutout to Connor who went above and beyond. We ate at Eve during our stay and the service there was incredible as well and food was 10/10.

This Hotel was absolutely fantastic! Amazing location, walking distance to all the prime spots, transportation and New town. The staff was also amazing! They were welcoming and attentive to our needs. Our room was cleaned on a daily. I highly recommend this hotel. 5 stars all around!!

Room was small. View was garbage cans and an old oil storage tank. Good location. Roof top terrace has good view of castle but was not set up. Bar was great with good selection on non alcoholic drinks

The location is perfect, the staff could not be more helpful or lovely. The room was clean, I am a particular fan when a hotel had conditioner in the shower. The breakfast had good gluten free options.

Fantastic location walkable to all the major sites. Staff is amazing as is everybody in Scotland. Room had a king size bed and fantastic bedding, but the room was a bit small. We stayed on the ninth floor one below the top and could hear when people flushed the toilet above us with the water running through the pipes. So I would request a room on the top floor. Eat their restaurant, and that two was phenomenal and reasonably priced.
