"Carambola is a picturesque property with so much potential to be world-class.The good news is that new owners will fully gut and renovate it to hopefully turn it to an impeccable resort. The room we stayed in was spacious and had a nice view of the pool and partial ocean view.Aircon was functioning.Bed was comfortable.The room was filthy.Our feet was covered in total grime barefoot.I brought a big tub of Lysol wipes and tried my best to clean the floors,tables,remote controls(caked in dirt)walls,switches-everything was dirty.The Lysol wipes was covered in black substance.I had to buy 2 more from the grocery.I got a mound of blond hair from the shower drain.(Our hair is black)The toilet I had to buy 2 toilet bowl cleaners and toilet brush to be comfortable enough to use it.The toilet was nasty and I had to wipe the whole contraption.I was tempted to bleach it but my husband told me you are suppose to be on vacation. It seemed under-staffed and I can only presume the staff had low morale since the hotel would be closed last week of May for a total gut job.The staff was friendly and doing their best to be accommodating and helpful. We can only hope the new owners retain and train the staff to reach it’s full potential.Once Carambola opens it will be a gem with outrageous rates.We are glad we were able to enjoy it’s beauty at a reasonable price."

"The staff was exceptional and I could not say more about them, otherwise the trip would have really been a disaster.Breakfast buffet was ok, unfortunately the main restaurant was closed due to staffing. They only offered a buffet for dinner every night which was only fair at best."

"My room was filthy and had to be changed, the Italian restaurant was not available and that was one of the reasons why I booked that particular resort. The hot tub wasn’t working properly and it was full of bugs. There was only one bar and the food wasn’t very good."
