These international airports are spread across Ecuador: the Simon Bolivar International Airport, located in Guayaquil, the Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito, Tachina Airport based in Esmeraldas, Eloy Alfaro International Airport in Manta, and Cotopaxi Air Base in Latacunga. Each airport is conveniently located in their respective cities to enable those coming in to Ecuador can get to their destination in the city quickly and easily. From the airport, visitors can take a number of transportation options to get to where they want to go including taxis, special bus services, and trains.

Ecuador Weather

Flights to Ecuador happen year-round, and there is always a region of Ecuador where good weather is available. The majority of people prefer to get their Ecuador flights during the dry season, which, in the highlands (La Sierra), is usually from June to September. In the east (La Amazonia), rain falls most of the year. The lowlands (La Costa) have a rainforest climate. Rain does not usually affect the temperature greatly however, and the sun will generally be shining throughout the day. Because it is located on the equator, Equator basically gets 12 hours of day and night every day.

Getting Around Ecuador

Buses are the main form of transportation for most Ecuadorians, and will likely be the most convenient for those getting flights to Ecuador. While the journey on a bus is likely to be quite hair-raising, there are buses available to take you to almost any destination you require. Other forms of transportation include boats, some trains, and taxis. Many attractions in Ecuador however, are only accessible if you are part of an organized tour. There are a variety of tour operators working in Ecuador and some even offer private trips so you don't have to go with other tourists. Walking is also a good way to get in amongst the locals and get a real feel for the country. A walk through the Otavalo Market is certainly a must.
