The L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA) in St. George's is the only airport where flights to Bermuda touch down from various destinations across the European continent, United States, and Canada. JetBlue, USA3000, US Airways, Air Canada, British Airways, Continental Airlines, American Airlines, and Delta Airlines serve local and overseas tourists and travelers. Upmarket restaurants and bars, souvenir stores, executive lounges, kiddie play areas, and the Charles Lloyd Tucker Art Gallery are all located in the Departures area. Shuttles and taxis are readily available to take visitors to their lodgings anywhere on the island.

Bermuda Weather

Although the climate is delightfully mild throughout the year, summertime is when it really comes to life. This starts from April and lasts all the way through to October. With the water temperature a notch up, watersport activities are abuzz on the island. Midsummer temperatures could soar to around 85 degrees, and the high humidity could pose a problem for some guests. It would then be a wise idea to delay your flight to Bermuda until the winter sets in. Bargains abound this time of year, and cheap hotels would suit a tight budget very well.

Getting around Bermuda

Renting a car is out of the question for visitors to the island. That certainly poses no problem as shuttles, taxis, mopeds, ferries, bicycles, buses, and even carriages are in abundance and readily available. Bee Line and BTA taxis provide all shuttle services to and from accommodation to airport terminal at around $30 a ride. Bermuda Breeze bus service is cheap, and it is advised to buy tokens to save time. They are available in Hamilton at the bus and ferry terminals. The Sea Express ferry system allows visitors to absorb the magnificent island from an ocean view. Purchasing tokens, tickets, and passes from the ferry terminal is much more convenient than having to run around with bags of coins. Horse-drawn carriage rides are romantic, and guests can enjoy the island at slow speed. Cost is $50 per half hour and bookings can be arranged by the hotel management. Mopeds and scooters are a fun way to go exploring in your own time and space. Rates are around $50 per day and a few regulations apply.

Bermuda Attractions

Visitors on flights to Bermuda are greeted with unforgettable beaches and inviting turquoise waters. The gripping history and interesting culture is depicted in the many museums and old forts scattered across the island. Here are a few highlights that should not be missed:

  • The Crystal and Fantasy Caves hold spectacular natural formations of stalactites and stalagmites that are surrounded by a breathtaking, deep blue lake.
  • Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute displays underwater shipwrecks, galleries, exquisite shell collections, and an education on environmental health and preservation for future generations.
  • The Dockyard is a 19th century fortress that clearly displays the former might of the British Royal Navy. Now a tourist friendly venue with gardens, restaurants, and a shopping mall, guests can also swim with dolphins, snorkel, and enjoy many adventures at this historical landmark.
