I stayed at this house in Damascus, Pennsylvania from January 1 to 4 through Vrbo, and what was supposed to be a relaxing getaway turned into a complete nightmare. On January 3, the propane ran out in the evening, and the heating stopped working entirely. The host knew the gas was low but didn’t bother to arrange for any backup heating options. The split system in the house was already disconnected from electricity, so we couldn’t even use that. We had to tough it out overnight in a freezing 59-degree house—it was miserable and ruined our whole trip.On top of that, the cleaning was absolutely terrible. Dust everywhere, the carpets were filthy and full of grime—it felt like no one had vacuumed or deep-cleaned in ages.There was barely any dishware, and what little there was came dirty. We tried to wash it in the dishwasher, but there were no tablets provided, so we were stuck hand-washing everything or dealing with the mess.The place desperately needs some basic cosmetic repairs, but the host clearly doesn’t care. The staircase to the second floor is a hazard with sharp edges on the steps, and the dining chairs wobble so badly they feel like they’re about to fall apart.Overall, I’m extremely disappointed and would never recommend this property. Our vacation was totally spoiled because of these issues—avoid at all costs!
