History and a hotel all in one

This is such a unique hotel. It is like sleeping and a piece of history. They have pieces from the original mill all over the hotel as decor and it's just beautiful. I love all the exposed brick and metal and concrete because they did not mess with the original Foundation of the mill. Location wise it's absolutely a beautiful walk to the village where the shopping and restaurants are all right there. As a solo female traveler this was perfect for me. I did not use any of the amenities or I did not eat at the restaurant so I cannot come in on those but they look nice. This was definitely worth every penny I spent.

This is a beautiful and spacious property. The setting is quiet, yet close to all of the shopping in the Amana colonies. The property, common areas and rooms are impeccably clean and well kept. The food isn't great but it is convenient to have food service in the hotel. They have a poor ordering system. Food orders have to go through the front desk and they are already very busy. There should be a designated food service employee, familiar with the menu, who takes phone orders from guests of the hotel. The front desk didn't know what came with the sandwiches, what kind of pop they offer, where to go to collect the food, they do not offer room service. You have to go down and find someone to pay and find someone to get your beverages and find someone else who knows where the food pick up is. Then, the order is wrong, the food is put together in a sloppy way and it is cold even though we waited for 15 more minutes to get it. There were no other customers. They need an organized system with designated food personnel, a quality control procedure, a detailed menu which clearly specifies what food and drink are offered, what side dishes are included, and a timing system that allows both meals to come out to the customer at the same time, a better time estimate of when a customer can come down for the food and pick it up rather than wait 20 minutes longer than the time the front desk specified. We will definitely stay here again, but we will probably not order food again.

Husband & I loved spacious, clean room w/lovely view of Mill Race. Very much appreciated mini-fridge & microwave! Staff very friendly, professional & helpful, including: Melissa (front desk at check-in), Kenzie at breakfast in restaurant, Austin bartender in evening. Beautiful lobby; loved sitting-room areas. Did NOT like lack of luggage carts (only 4 for 65 rooms??!!). Parking was ample, but way too far to walk for some individuals to get to their rooms. No concierge, bell captain or person stationed at doors to assist w/luggage and offer directions/answer questions. Signage was practically non-existent! We had a little map of property lay-out, but after checking in the first day, we walked around and around looking for "Door A" to get to our rooms. This was extremely frustrating and problematic!

Across the road from the Millstream Brewery, this immaculate conversion hotel preserves the wonder and importance of its original purpose. Great location. Our second stay, and we will return to enjoy more of this beautiful place.
