The property itself was beautiful—clean, well-decorated, and in a great location, which made our stay feel promising at first. Unfortunately, we discovered a serious issue with German cockroaches, particularly in the kitchen. On our last night, when I turned on the light, they were throughout our groceries, forcing me to throw everything away. As a single mom, that was a significant and unexpected loss I couldn’t easily replace.I notified the owner and even sent a photo of one I killed, but the response was disappointing. There was no real acknowledgment of the severity of the issue, no real apology, and no effort to make things right. Thankfully, VRBO customer support stepped in and was helpful.Beyond the stay itself, I had to take extensive extra precautions before returning home—treating all of our luggage to avoid bringing roaches back with us, which was stressful and time-consuming.It’s really unfortunate, because with a more supportive or empathetic response from the owner, my overall impression could have been very different. I hope this is addressed so future guests don’t have the same experience.
