From the outside and the pictures on line this looks like a good hotel however condition lets it down. Hotel would have been nice 20 years ago but seems to believe all you need to do is put on a lick of paint and new linen to update. Plumbing is dodgy, door lock was extremely hard to open, general fixtures condition is poor. Dodgy old lift holds max 1 person plus luggage. Hotel poorly sign posted with only sign from station leading you to a locked gate in the car park. Breakfast was limited with somewhat chaotic service. Left the hotel much earlier than planned due to lock concerns getting in and out of room

We were grateful and impressed that a staff member came down to open the gate to the car park in Storm Amy. The hotel decor is charmingly period, the room was comfortable and warm, the bar was pleasant.

Good hotel

Another stay at this fine centrally located hotel. Great room , clean and comfortable and quiet ( apart from other door slamming morons). The pool and hot tub are a bonus. It was a tad chilly in the room though.

Staff were really polite and the breakfast was lovely. Really comfy bed. Some parts could do with being updated like the shower for example but, to be honest, as long as things were working and, most of all clean, that's all I want from a hotel.
