I have stayed at Arkdale lodge a gew times, always made very welcome by the hosts easy to walk to the city centre in kess than 20 minutes and bedrooms very comfortable

Not Recomended.

Bit drab looking from outside. No lift and steep stairs, not great on a walking stick with a small case. Room 3 was acceptable, clean and tidy, fresh smelling however the bathroom was a "tight fit" if wanting a poo. Also the shower was smaller than a phone box with just a trickle of water! The breakfast times of 7am to 9am are not acceptable especially on the weekend. I entered the dining room at 09.40 unaware and was told "finished" I asked for a sandwich to takeaway but told i would have to pay for it ( even though my booking included breakfast). Doubt very much if i would return.

My single room was clean and tidy. Could do with a better carpet and repair is needed to sliding shower room door. But it was very adequate - nice tea and biscuits supplied in room. Breakfast was excellent - just too much!!

Inexpensive place to stay.

This hotel is OK and I would choose to stay here again. It was clean, warm and felt safe. It's not a brand new out-of-the-box chain hotel so don't expect that. On the other hand the staff were helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was good and nice for it to be included in the price.

Centre of town hotel 👍

Great hosts very friendly, hotel is situated right on the edge of the nightlife area. Big breakfast great breakfast room. Close to all amenities. The Hotel is an old converted town house with all the rooms upstairs. Big wide staircases no lift. The pub next door has a good selection of food at reasonable prices. We enjoyed our stay. .

I had to ring ahead as I thought I would miss their opening hours, the proprietor was friendly+ helpful, said there would be no problem. In the following am was a very good breakfast, freshly cooked. Lovely place to stay. Very convenient for station and centre centre < 10 mins walk.

I checked in very late 11pm. I had rung ahead and I was met by Ishwar the owner with a friendly smile. He even asked if I had eaten? A friendly place owned and managed by Ishwar and his wife Sabita. This was my first stay but I will definitely look at staying there again.

The lodge is on a very busy main road so can be noisy at times but I had a room at the back and was quiet. I enjoyed my stay very much and will stay here again the next time I am in Carlisle.
