As a solo female traveller, I felt safe with the exceptionally friendly staff who made a point of knowing who I was by name and checked on me every time I went in and out of the hotel. The area itself is not for the faint hearted but I was being picked up for day tours from the hotel door each day so really didn’t bother me and there were lots of lovely restaurants close by.
