Nice Quaint Place, Great Location
I loved the location, facing at a quiet canal, a short stroll away from the bustle of the touristy areas. Wonderful dining options nearby. There is a bus stop a few steps away that take you to the train station or the farthest reaches of the city. The room was spacious, nicely furnished, with a beautiful view of the canal, plenty of hanging space, but not much to place not hanging clothes. Nice common areas. Breakfast was good. Several small things made it not a 5 star stay.
1-Coffe in the room was powder coffee. A Nespresso, or drip coffee should be standard for a 4 star hotel
2- The mixing valve of the shower did not mix well, so water went from too hot to too cold and I had to take showers moving in and out of the water stream
3. The reception person there most of the time was rather inattentive. We asked for a nearby restaurant recommendation that could take us the first day without a reservation and we were pointed to a book. We asked for information about the bus schedule and he told us to walk to the bus stop, we found out there was a marathon the day we were checking out, and we asked about street closures and the person had no idea there was a marathon passing just in front of the hotel, nor how that was going to affect our going to the train station. The hotel posted something the day before the marathon.
4- The towels looked dingy.
5- No way to control the heating.
But, overall it was a good stay and might come back to it if we go back to Bruges.
