A little piece of paradise
If you’re looking for total immersion in nature, that’s exactly what you’ll get. Lots of water. Lots of plants. Lots of birds and butterflies. We’ve seen monkeys, toucans, and even a sloth. We enjoy creating a safe haven for these animals. We have many waterfalls on our finca, some of which are over 8 meters high. You can visit and enjoy them all.
This isn’t a party spot! Come enjoy the pool, the waterfalls, and nature. No loud music—we respect nature.
The cabin has one bedroom that comfortably sleeps two guests, with a large balcony featuring a hammock and outdoor seating. The weather is warm during the day and cool at night. A wood-fired BBQ is available by the all-natural pool, which is best used during the day.
The cabin’s shower has no hot water and is outdoors, as you can see in the photos. It’s a gem, but everyone has their own taste! We’ve also installed an electric shower for those who have trouble with the cold water. But this water is still not warm—I’d say about 20–25 degrees.
The photos were taken in the summer, during the dry season. If you’re traveling in the winter or during the rainy season, the water and the surrounding nature may look different.
We do not provide meals! It’s very difficult to strike a balance in terms of the cost of preparing food, since one person has to cook for only two people. Of course, we can prepare a local meal upon request, but for that reason, it’s not cheap. There aren’t any restaurants nearby, so we think cooking for yourself is best.
This accommodations are designed to welcome nature lovers. We’ve tried to make this accommodation as luxurious as possible by providing a comfortable mattress, a well-equipped kitchen, and a mosquito net. However, it’s very difficult to provide the kind of modern luxury found in the city, since we’re perched on top of a mountain and everything has to be carried up the mountain.
In addition, we’re in the jungle. It’s important to realize that there are many animals in the jungle. Some are considered cute, such as monkeys, sloths, and birds. Others are less so, such as snakes, spiders, and scorpions.
The jungle causes high humidity; please keep this in mind. There is a lot of water on the grounds as well as underground. It rains heavily at night, and during the day the sun often shines intensely. This also contributes to high humidity.
We recommend that visitors stay for at least 3–4 nights. Spend a full day relaxing by the pool and enjoy a free tour of the finca. On the second day, go on a cacao tour. On the third full day, try an activity such as rafting, canyoning, paragliding, or rappelling. We have the contacts to help you make reservations. There’s so much to do in the area, including some truly beautiful hikes to the Santo Domingo River and the Melcocho River. Don’t be afraid to stay here for two weeks—you won’t have enough time!
