The lady at checkin (15 Oct evening) was absolutely wonderful. She took the time to explain about the door entry and what was available. She even provided an adapter when I discovered I had left mine at the last hotel. The room was clean and very quiet. The shower was awesome. Breakfast had a good variety. A great place to stay and very centrally located in the Gothic District.

Had a horrible experience at Hotel California. On my last night there, I was woken up by water dripping from the ceiling. I notified the staff right away (at 3am), but since there was no other room available, I was forced to stay in the room with the water dripping till the „bathroom issue” upstairs was resolved in the morning. My suitcase was soaked and I got no sleep, yet the hotel refused to offer any concession for my terrible experience.

Only a few minutes walk to La Rambla, Hotel California finds itself situated amongst some of Barcelonas' most popular sights. A cosy air conditioned room is a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of a busy tourist area, dotted with a wide variety of places to eat and shop. A nice comfortable bed, and a decent bathroom provides sanctuary for the weary traveller, on return from taking in the wonders of the city. Wonderful friendly staff, efficient check in and out, makes for a pleasant stay. I look forward to returning for a longer visit.

Very eh

Location was fantastic and room was quiet. But the beds were uncomfortable, the bathroom smelled like sewer gas, the ac was very weak, and the internet signal was unreliable from our room. For the price, I would stay elsewhere.

Overall this hotel was great! Close to all the shops, restaurants, La Rambla, walking distance to La Boqueria (must see), the pier for day and sunset cruises, lots of happenings close by! Hotel renovations during our visit, so we went sightseeing during the day to avoid the noise. Breakfast was included and there is an awesome selection! Staff is very friendly and spoke English.

Disappointing for the money

I stayed here for one night in a single room at a rate of £137 (without breakfast). Good bits: The two staff I met on reception were very nice Bad bits: There was a large curly hair on the wall in the bathroom. Definitely not from me, just hadn't been cleaned properly. There was a smell of sewage in the bathroom. I assume coming up through the shower drainage. The balcony door did not seal properly which allowed in a lot of extra noise from the street that normally would be sealed out. I didn't spend a lot of time in the room and with an early flight to catch the next day, I didn't think it was worth raising when I'd be home ~12 hours later anyway.

Great overall experience

The staff was fantastic, and thankfully, for me, spoke English very well and grave me great recommendations. I was traveling by myself, so I chose the room with only one small bed. It was bigger than a twin bed, and the room was designed efficiently. It was very clean and safe. The location could not have been better for a single traveler. The metro stop was only about three blocks away. Metro ride to and from the airport is about 40 minutes, but very easy. La Sagrada Família was about a 30 minute walk, but there are stores and cafes along the way. Plaza for Barcelona Cathedral about 5 minute walk. Great for people watching. 5 minute walk for Borne neighborhood. Great location. If I am fortunate enough to return to Barcelona, I will not look for a different place to stay.

We arrived at the property and elevator was Not working. We we on the third and fourth floor. We are group of 6 people in late 60th. The hotel promised to give us compensation, all we got was a voucher for a free drink across the street , What a joke! Area near hotel is filthy with trash around on every corner, and the worst part is there are thieves and pickpockets around everywhere. Be very careful, when booking this place. Front desk people are nice and friendly.

Sunroom was nice and clean. Bathroom stocked. Bed clean and comfortable. When I arrived the elevator was broken. They email me two days prior. It was fixed quickly. That whole staff was thoughtful and attentive to my needs. Great suggestions and took time to show me areas that could be sketchy. Had a great time. I'll stay again
