The room was very nice and comfortable, but I don't believe the hotel has heard of Kleenex. I asked for some and got a couple of small boxes of 3 Kleenex but it wasn't until the last day they put some of these little boxes in the room. The first day we had to tell them the tub/shower drain was stopped up and the temperature of the water went from cold to very how continually. Then a couple of times our room key would not work. I had to go down twice and then they sent someone up that got it to work but we had the same problem a few more times. Maybe the battery for the lock was failing? And I was disappointed that their breakfast didn't start until 7am. I should have investigated prior. 7am is good for the businesspeople but not for tourist. Many of the tours start anywhere between 7 and 8 so you may be out of luck catching the breakfast if you need to meet the tour like we did twice and were unable to use the breakfast facilities we prepaid for. We were offered a box breakfast which we took the first tour but we were not allowed to eat it on the tour bus and there was nowhere else to eat it. It went to waste. I'd say the staff was friendly but not very attentive. I believe I would consider another stay at the Barcelo Raval again now that I'm forewarned.

Loved the hotel, very quirky and different. The rooftop bar offered fantastic views across the city although drinks were on the pricey side. Don’t expect to swim in the pool though, it is tiny and cold! Overall we had a great stay and I would return.

The room service, meaning that they clean the rooms, give free water daily, and don’t have any gimmicks to trick you into spending more is what I appreciate about them. The issue we were facing is safety around the area with vagrants, destitutes, and seedy characters. When there is an event, music will be performed and you will hear the music, so it’s a little more for the younger crowd. There is an amazing Michelin Star Restaurant named Succulent just down the street, and it lives up to its star. Take the long way walks towards your destinations, don’t take smaller alleys, and get an unlimited metro card for #1 zone. It covers all of Barcelona, and is the best way to travel. It’s literally amazing to be able to travel this way, and having a rental car or choosing taxis is a waste of time, patience, and money.

It was the 4th hotel we had been on during this trip and it was the most expensive. It was the only one that we didn't like. It looks good at first glance but it's sadly just for show and doesn't translate to a great experience, especially for the price they ask for. The room was OK but there was pretty extensive water damage on the toilet door, tears on the mirror, floor tiles were cracked. Shower worked great though. Sink is in the middle of room so water gets on the counter (the only space to put stuff, except the small desk). The TV stand is in the air, in the middle of the desk so don't expect to be able to sit there without having it in your face. Bedding was fine, mattress too. You could hear the street and we'd been in noisier parts before without that issue. With the noise machine, it was fine. Air con didn't work properly. We set it to the lowest temperature possible in the hopes it would cool down the room a bit but to no avail. It also made on and off sounds for a few hours before stopping. View from the terrace is good but it's also a bar. Lots of smokers, but the space isn't large so you can't really get away from it. People listening to music on speakers too. Be aware there isn't really a pool, it's a sitting area with water in it. Saturday morning, they started to clean the next door room at 8 am. VERY. LOUDLY. dragging the chair around, banging the wall. We thought they were renovating before we opened the door and saw the cleaning cart. We won't be back.
