The worst service you could find in Nuevo Vallarta

We arrived early to check in, as a Hotels.com Gold member when possible the hotel will allow you to check in early, we did this in most hotels in the area, but they told us to comeback at 3:00pm to check in, so we had to leave and kill some time, we made it back at 3:20 to my surprise one of the receptionists told us that we had to wait another 20 minutes to check in, I was very upset, and who appeared to be the manager tried to help and allowed us to check in to one of the two rooms we booked and just wait for the second one to be ready! When we arrived at the room the air conditioner was on and it smelled like a dirty mop, literally! I had to open the balcony and the front doors, which was better than dealing with the smell. On the second day we went to the beach, which is the best we have found so far in Vallarta! We were thirsty so we asked for a glass to get water to one of the bartenders by the main pool and he told us they were closing and therefore he could not give us a glass! I could not believe it! Then I heard him say to another guest he could serve him only if he was a Royal member. Then a server gave us a hard time because we weren’t completely dry to enter the snack, informal, Mexican restaurant, but many other guests were in the same condition as us and already eating, there was not sign stating this! Also, when trying to get our cards for the used towels we were told to bring the towels to reception as proof instead since they didn’t have any cards Ridiculous

This property is nice and clean my only concern is the beach too many debris and pieces of plastic around you guys please consider a clean every morning with a tractor the beach is beautiful only need take care after 10:00pm consider do something more after the show is nothing to do.

It is a beautiful facility and it is a beautiful location, however the service from the staff leaves a lot to be desired & I feel like they should hire more people to keep the hotel clean at all times. When we went it wasn’t that busy and the facility was kind of dirty, I can only imagine how it gets when it’s really busy. But honestly that didn’t affect us to much. The staff’s attitude however, did.

Very happy that I chose this hotel. Food was great. Loved the pool and beach. Even though people always save sun chairs, we were always able to find some. Never had to wait in line for anything.Staff is lovely. Really enjoyed the Zumba class and games. The only issue I found was that room needs a bit of a refresh – it was falling apart. The tap on the sink was moving, the drawer was broken. But other than that, no complaints.

We stayed here for two weeks and could not have been happier with our experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, with beautiful touches that made us feel right at home. The amenities were fantastic — from the pool area to the relaxing common spaces, everything was well-maintained and thoughtfully designed. Dining was another highlight of our stay. Every meal was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with plenty of variety to keep things exciting throughout our stay. Overall, this hotel truly exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Puerto Vallarta and look forward to returning again soon!

Best resort ever! The staff were so friendly, the hotel and our room was very clean, there are so many activities to do both in and out of water, and the food at the buffet and restaurants is just perfection. The resort is not as touristy and it is more local with a lot of touches from Mexican culture. All of this only made our stay here more memorable and amazing.

Very disappointed that there were no palates on the beach at this resort. Not one ! All the umbrellas were saved around pool most mornings by 9 am even though very few people were actually sat on them.

The rooom they tried to put us in had a heavy musty smell. We asked to me moved, they did move us, but at various intervals during our stay our room filled with the unmistakable sewer smell. Also the streaming channels on our tv didn’t work for 6 days during our stay.
Cabanas are in disrepair. The fabric panels meant to provide shade are fastened with nails that have rusted from humidity. Wind easily knocks the panels loose, leaving fabric flapping dangerously with rusty nails attached. One cabana frame collapsed.

I recently stayed at Occidental Nuevo Vallarta and had a very disappointing and concerning experience. During my stay, I discovered black mold growing near the vent in my room. It was clear the area had been painted over in an attempt to cover it, but the mold was still visible and spreading and BAD. This is a serious health and safety concern, especially since I was traveling with my two young children. Exposure to mold can cause respiratory problems, allergic reactions, and other health issues, and I felt extremely uneasy staying in those conditions. Even worse, after reporting this issue and reaching out after my stay, the hotel has not responded at all. The complete lack of accountability and customer care is unacceptable for a resort of this standard. For anyone considering booking here, please be aware: the facilities are not properly maintained, and the management does not seem to take guest safety seriously. Until they address these issues and start communicating with guests, I cannot recommend this hotel.
