Three Sheets to the Wind is a perfect place for a Hatteras Island vacation. Three Sheets is nestled into a beautiful, natural, dune-top location on a quiet street in Kinnakeet Shores. The ground level has ample parking, a gas grill, and a private beach walkway. The first living level has four bedrooms (main with private bath), a hall bath, and a laundry room with a private washer/dryer. Vacationers will lose themselves in the large second-level great room with expansive cathedral ceilings, exposed cedar beams, window benches, and a room-top reading nook. An additional third bathroom plus a well-thought-out design will allow for entertaining a good vacation crowd. The open, well-equipped kitchen is readily accessible to the oceanfront dining area. The third-level loft bedroom with a private deck has a bird's eye view of the ocean and sound. Three Sheets catches the best Avon has to offer.

We absolutely loved this house! I searched hundreds of houses looking for a home that was dated with nostalgia and this nailed in on the head. The home was clean, and comfortable but it was set back in time in a truly lovely way. From the old school decor, to the same exact plates I grew up with, it was a blast from the past and we will definitely be going back. So many of the rental homes are white washed inside with gorgeous modern interiors, and we love that too, but we wanted something that felt cozy for winter, and embracing when you walk in, and this house does that. There is a board game closet stocked with lots of great throwbacks. We loved that the home is walking distance to groceries and restaurants. There is ample parking in the driveway to probably fit five cars if needed. For winter stays, the house was very warm and not drafty, the heat works well, and the windows have all been upgraded to double pane. Management was great, we had a few minor things come up that were quickly addressed. This house would be great for families and especially good for a girls or guys trip to reminisce old times. If I didn't live in Atlanta, I would consider buying it!

Beautiful place right on the beach. Plenty of cookware, cups, utensils etc. for cooking. The only thing wrong was the hot tub hardly had any water in it and was green so it had not been taken care of in a while. Was looking forward to using it during our stay, but couldn't.

Our stay was OK. The only amenity that I wanted in a house was a hot tub and we were informed after the cut off date for cancellation that the hot tub was broken beyond repair. We would’ve liked to have been given a chance to find a more accommodating space. The road leading out was closed on the day of checkout, and we asked for some leniency, but ended up having to wait around in a nearby restaurant for five hours for the road to open.

The house was perfect for us! If you struggle with stairs, this is NOT your place. I don’t know that this area (OBX) is your place if you struggle with stairs. On to the house itself. It could use some updating, sure. But it was still very comfortable. The biggest things I saw was the carpet starting to rip up on the steps. We only slept in the king bed one the main level. The room was huge! The bed was too firm for my liking but I still slept ok. We were kind of bummed that only one window opened and stayed open on its own but didn’t have a screen in that bedroom. We had cooler nights and would have loved to slept with a window open. The AC in the house is amazing! The upper loft room does tend to stay a lot warmer than the rest of the house but is to be expected since it’s on the 3rd level. The views from that room are awesome but the stairs are kind of steep. If you are traveling with a group or family, there were so many board games and books provided for rainy days or evenings. We had plenty of cookware for the meals we cooked. I would have preferred some more non-stick pans but we made due. The coffee pot is a normal one so bring or buy filters. The hot tub was clean and was great to have on arrival day and in the evenings of our trip. And don’t be fooled! Those ratchet straps for the lid are NOT for just in between guests… the ocean wind WILL open it again if you don’t use them. We did see some beach toys in the outdoor shower area. We would stay again

House was okay for an older home but the prior renters didn’t put out trash for pickup and maggots in the trash along with a dead animal smell. House had crumbs receipts from prior renters , burnt food on stove top along with I picked up over 4 gallon bag of trash outside.

Beautiful location

When you arrive at the location, you are greeted by the beautiful scene. Ocean front!! The house is massive from the outside but set up very comfortably inside. The wall of windows on the second level showcased the ocean. The house has everything you need and has all the supply’s You will ever need in a rental kitchen. The floors had just been steam cleaned and a tad wet when we arrived, the hot tub was empty and being refilled by the staff. They have a linen service bring clean stuff and take out the used. *NO* bugs in the house at all!! Very impressive. Cons..... the hot tub top was broken, very difficult opening and closing the tub. Still usable. I emailed but no one responded. The hot tub jets need work, a few didn’t operate at all. The bathrooms need a upgrade. A little paint goes a long way! Replace the master bath toilet. Please be advised new renters!! This is a dated home but it was clean and had everything we needed. It’s not a hotel, so things will go wrong. It’s worth it!! The ocean and outside decks are impressive!!! I will definitely rent again!!!

Horrible state of disrepair Heating and air unit did not work Rust in pots and pans Dirty sheets still left in the house Dishes left in the sink Repair man came in while my son was there no mask during Covid surge Dishwasher while rubber piece came out Outside gas grill rusted out and could not use Electric outside did not work Towel rack broke and in the floor in the bathroom Ceilings in downstairs bathroom horrible shape Sheets that were brought to us vacuum packed looked as if they were yellow from being in storage so long Bedspreads frayed at the ends with stuffing coming out. Repair men in and out three different times with heating and air unit broken So disappointed with this rental

celebrated daughter's 40th birthday

the house was large, had everything we needed. Great area on the beach, lots of windows with ocean views, the house and listing was as described, big, clean house. We enjoyed our stay very much and would come here again. Had a little storm damage to screened in porch area but that didn't bother us, it was great!

We loved the location and so much about the house. But there were unsafe things that caused us worry and harm. The banister was not safe, some of the rungs were out in more than one place making a gap, the floor at a doorway had a screw sticking up and my daughter cut her foot which affected the rest of her vacation. When they came to fix it, they ended it by putting duct tape along the floor connection of the room/hallway-unprofessional. The outside steps had nailes sticking up multiple places. The hottub did not keep the heat once opened, was reported right away, didn't come for days, then the first guy didn't fix it, had to report again, by our last night there a 2nd guy came and fixed it completely but we were very disappointed since this was a big feature of this. Some old glass was not swept up and cleaned and my foot got a tiny piece of glass stuck on the bottom. These things, combined made a stressful stay. The management company was very responsive, I just don't think they knew what was going on at this house. Also, there were cobwebs in the house and the downstairs bedrooms were hot and did not have ceiling fans. But, even with all of this we had a very nice family reunion. The view and decks were wonderful and the nice open Living Room was neat, as well as the loft.

Location, Location, Location

This property is beautiful. Location on the beach and in the town for conveniences is perfect. We could walk to the grocery store and to local restaurants. There were very few trivial negatives. Under the house was not cleaned up. Boards from building walkway to beach were laying around. Chairs and knee boards were scattered. The house itself was clean except for the vents and light fixtures were quite dusty. When it came time to check out you are required to call from the house phone to the rental agency. The house phones were not connected. Everyone in our party are already talking about coming back next year.
