We loved Atrani, a quaint little town without the tourist-y hustle and bustle of Amalfi, which is only a 15-20 minute walk up the road. The beach is nice and very close to the property. Maddalena, the property owner was really nice and the flat itself is serviceable, but there are a few things we wish we had known before making our reservation. First, the entry, bedrooms and kitchen/living area are on three different "floors" with very steep spiral stairs in between and there are no handrails. While the property description says it's "wheelchair inaccessible", these stairs were difficult even for someone with only an arthritic hip! Secondly, between the church bells that chime every 15 minutes (24 hours a day) and the incredibly loud neighbors who are up at 6 a.m., we had to wear earplugs to bed. And finally, it's the little things that make the difference. The bath towels provided were so small and tread-bear, they looked more like rags; there was no microwave that we could find; no place to hang the laundry to dry; and we had an ant invasion in the kitchen when we left cookies out. All in all, we can't give this property more than a three-star rating, even with the beautiful location and nice beach.
