The only thing we liked about this place was the location to Monastiraki, Syntagma, transit, Parthenon. Everything is within walking distance. The property smells like an old Vegas casino with smoking everywhere. The breakfast shouldn't be called that. Not sure if we paid extra for it, but if we did, we deserve a refund. Didn't really engage or need the staff. The cleaning lady was nice and hooked us up with whatever we needed. The bed is super hard and not comfortable. Would look elsewhere should we come back to Athens. If you are looking for a very wallet friendly place to try to sleep after a long day of walking, this could be it. I am sure there are much nicer options for a little bit more money out there.

Hotel Cecil is in a very convenient position, very close to Monastiraki Square, near restaurants, the train station, and also The Plaka. The double room I had was quite small with a small bathroom - but it was functional. The included breakfast was good with a lovely Breakfast lady (though quite reserved)

The location was excellent for visiting Plaka neighborhood and the acropolis and Parthenon! The shower area was absolutely horrible for drainage! It was flooded outside of the shower area and I had to use bathroom towels to mop. Also the toilet and the shower almost run into each making it absolutely uncomfortable. It’s like a delicate dance between the shower floor edge and squatting on the toilet. I am 122 lbs and it was tough. Can’t imagine what it would be for a heavier person to fit into that tiny space!

I was solo traveling so I really had no intentions of really staying in the hotel all the time. It was really just a place for me to crash at night, have breakfast in the day and head out. With that in mind, I got a single room. While the room was quite small, with little to no “view”, the location more than made up for it. It’s on quite literally the main street through central Athens with very close access to train stations, bus stations, walking distance to Plaka, Acropolis, museums etc. it’s also walkable distance from fantastic food and shopping places of Kolonaki. As far as the rooms go, it suffices. You get an attached bathroom, albeit a very small one, but it’s yours. Rooms have WiFi, air conditioners, and the staff changes the sheets almost daily. Very clean. Breakfast also suffices. Don’t expect any lavish spread, but good enough to get stomach’s fill in the morning before you head out. Definitely would take a single room here than a hostel with shared accommodations because at the end of the day you do get a room and bathe to yourself, which you realize is needed if you walked as much as I did in Athens

The location was excellent within walking distance of everything I wanted as a tourist. Room was nice when I arrived. Staff kept it clean while I was gone. The view from the rooftop was great with a view overlooking the streets and a view of the acropolis. The two things I didn’t like were that I got woke up one night at 2am and couldn’t fall back asleep due to there being a busy alley behind the hotel. And the breakfast wasn’t good and was very limited. Other than that it was a great hotel, I had a great stay, and most definitely worth it for the price

It was an old property but they did the best with it. The bed could use an update and the shower curtains could be longer so as to actually reach the shower floor. Even though the room did not have a mini-ref, they put one on each floor for the guest to share. No one touched my water. Breakfast was very basic. Ok for short stays as long as you are not very picky.
