The room did not have a deck overlooking the water - we were expecting a deck! The room was dark (decor & lighting) & dusty with cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. The table was unbalanced with a small porthole window overlooking an electrical power plant. Traffic noise was annoying and the property had minimal food options!

Our room was great - looking out over Lake Superior was quite lovely. Microwave and coffee supplies are set out in the hallway in addition to what’s in the room. Katie, the owner, is hands on making sure everything is running smoothly and made us a great cup of coffee at the Sandbar. There is also a wonderful sporting goods shop on the property.

Really unique with an outstanding lake view. The sunset last night was simply stunning from room 1. Very nicely furnished and very clean. We enjoyed having breakfast sandwiches at the on site cafe. I suggest you supply cushions for the chairs on the balcony. My only criticism is the Murphy bed. It was very uncomfortable and I moved to the couch in the middle of the night. The Murphy beds would be fine for kids but not for guests who are 60+. The king bed was very comfortable.

A Must Stay!

This was a very unique hotel. Very few rooms and incredible views. The room was ginormous and so cozy. The shower was huge and had two heads! It was an easy check in and check out process. The cafe downstairs was wonderful. We would most definitely stay here again and will recommend to others!

Beautiful views from our room - loved the balcony and the outside area. The room was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. Only 4 stars because we were on the top floor and were awakened several times overnight by a mechanical hammering noise coming from above us. Also the TP was gas station scratchy and I expected something a little more plush to match the rest of the atmosphere.

Packing up kid after four years of college. Stayed in Ashland many times the past years, first time anything was available here. Beautiful setup inches from Lake Superior. Great view, close to eats, good coffee in room, artesian well steps away. Best, coldest water you’ll ever taste!
