Hotel Katari in Arequipa

Stayed at the Katari in Arequipa and could not have been a better hotel. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was lovely and clean with lots of amenities. Highly recommend this hotel is you are travelling to Arequipa.

Tow days before our check-in started demonstrations from miners fighting for rights, so they closed the highway so there was no way to get there. I called the hotel to cancel the reservation but denied it saying I had to do it through Expedia. They denied it to Expedia as well. They were well aware of the political situation and stopped answering the phone.

Katari was a beautiful hotel. The location couldn’t be better, right on the plaza. I was also pleasantly surprised at how quiet the room was. Our room also had a filtered water tap! This allowed us to avoid buying so many plastic bottles. Breakfast on the roof was such a treat. Good food and an unforgettable view overlooking the plaza!

Katari’s location is second to none: right in front of the main city plaza. The rooms were nicely appointed. There is no AC, just a fan, which we didn’t really need to use during our stay (early May). Breakfast on the rooftop offers a killer view of Plaza de Armas with the cathedral and volcano as a beautiful backdrop. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The plaza can get noisy at night, but is safe with lots of police officers around.

Best possible location and the views from the rooftop are unparalleled with El Misty and Picha Picha as a backdrop. Service was excellent. Room was clean and tidy.

Great stay.

The location is amazing. The included breakfast is delicious and the view from the rooftop restraunt where it's served is beautiful. We did have some trouble with water into our room with heavy rain, but it was more than made up for by the staff who were very helpful over the entire stay.
