I would suggest plowing and shoveling when you get 6+ inches of snow for your guests. I didnt have any major issues during our stay, however, i will not stay here again. Upon check in, one staff member barely spoke English and the other looked like they just rolled out of bed. They were both in street clothes and one didnt even brush their hair. Come on. That gives off terrible first impressions!

The room was clean and spacious. Pool was a little small and lots of chlorine but we still enjoyed it (unfortunately quite a few of the guests were drinking and intoxicated in the pool area with kids around). Housekeeping staff, Lorraine specifically, was AMAZING (super friendly, helpful, kind and welcoming). Don't bother with breakfast there; aside from the belgian waffles, nothing else was worth it.

Great value in the Alpena! More updated and cleaner than similar priced options in the area (Ramada...). Staff kept the breakfast area clean and fully stocked!

I seriously injured myself sliding off the slimy pool steps. I held on to the railing so I didn’t hit my back or head on the cement steps. I tore things in my shoulder. The pool are was horrible. Freezing cold hot tub not heating pool to cold. Pool room extremely cold.

It smells like cigarettes all day and night, I do not smoke so it’s very noticeable and unsettling to me. The floor is poorly vaccumed as there is debris around the whole perimeter, especially behind the bed and the mattress smells like body odor. There is also some strange substance on the curtain which to me looks like dried blood. The bathtub also doesn’t plug. It has been like this every single time I’ve stayed here.

The rooms were updated and clean. Pool and hot tub were clean and reasonable sized. Staff were bery friendly. Breakfast wasn't good at all. But really you can't complain for the price and location.
