Traveling to Port-Au-Prince from Fort Lauderdale consists of a relatively short flight. The main airport, Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP), is located in the city of Tabarre, about a 15 minute drive from the center of Port-au-Prince.
The city was seen in headlines all over the world following the 2010 Haiti earthquake, and though they are still rebuilding, the area is once again becoming a tourist destination for travelers. Some of the main attractions in Port-Au-Prince include markets and bazaars, museums; and outdoor activities like hiking, exploring hidden waterfalls, and secret caves.
Upon arriving to Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP), visitors can get to the city of Port-Au-Prince by car, or via bus on National Bus Route 1. Most of the island nation is also accessible by bus if visitors wish to venture off the beaten path. You can also rent a car from the airport, with major international rental brands readily available.
Guests to Haiti will find the rebuilding efforts are still underway, but attractions, including several beach resorts, are open and visitors are readily welcomed with open arms.
Travel time between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), and Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP) is about two hours and five minutes. Many people come to Haiti for volunteer opportunities, and there are many avenues available for visitors who wish to offer their help while visiting this island nation.
