Los Angeles International (LAX) is located 18 miles southwest of central Los Angeles, CA. The airport can be reached via S. La Tijera Boulevard or I-105; both offer direct connections to airport access roads. Flights to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) typically require a layover, so flight times are usually around seven or eight hours. You can reach central Pittsburg in about 20 minutes going east on I-375, though you can also take advantage of the Port Authority's Busway, which travels directly to downtown. Taxis and shuttle services are also available for your use.
As the second-largest city in Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh offers numerous attractions and points of interest that will keep you busy during your stay. Take the kids on a day out to Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. You'll also want to tour the Heinz History Center, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Carnegie Museum of Art, and the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh. Other popular sites include PPG Place, Heinz Field, Mount Washington and Point State Park.
Pittsburgh averages about 160 sunny days annually. Summer highs are only around 84 degrees and the average winter low is 24 degrees. This makes it a comfortable city to visit just about any time of year. You'll want to pack according to the season though, since layers may be required. Downtown Pittsburgh also offers some lovely accommodations on any budget.
