Use Chicago's highly developed public transit system to get to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). Climb aboard the "L" Train or take the Metra North for easy access to all terminals. Flight times are usually approximately eleven and a half hours, so dress comfortably. After you climb off your plane at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH), get on the Rail and take it to Athens Central Railways Station, for easy access to Athenian hotels and attractions.
By far, the most popular tourist attractions in Athens are artifacts of ancient Greece. Spend time exploring these sites, starting at the Parthenon, a sizable temple that has served many different functions since it was built. Visit the Acropolis, too. While you have to hike to this site, once you arrive, it is more than worth it as there are statues and architecture to delight the senses. Conclude your exploration of classic Athens with a stop at Ancient Agora, an assembly space from times past. For access to a collection of unearthed artifacts, visit the National Archaeological Museum in downtown Athens.
To stay in a centralized spot, select a hotel in Old Athens. If you seek a neighborhood rich in shops and restaurants, stay in Kerameikos. Athens enjoys relatively temperate climates year-round. For the most comfort during your outdoor explorations, visit in the spring or fall, when temperatures are neither too cold nor too warm.
