The Monumento de los Heroes de Cavite is a popular memorial at the west end of the harbor commemorating the fallen from the Spanish-American War of 1898. The Castillo de la Concepcion is an 11th-century building 230 feet tall and designated the public park the Parque Torres.

The Archeological Museum is the most important museum in the city and has a wonderful collection of artifacts from Roman, Visigoth, Carthaginian and Arab cultures.

The hub of all tourist activities in the area is called Little Sea, which is a shallow salt-water lagoon, warm enough to permit swimming and water recreation all year round.

There is very little temperature fluctuation in Cartagena and there are no true changes of season. The temperatures are consistently in the 80s and 90s Fahrenheit for all months of the year and can go even higher. The dry season is from December to April, and in August through November, conditions become wetter.
