The location of Thirty One Homestay is convenient. It's about a 12-minute walk (0.8 miles) to the shuttle bus station for Tianmen Mountain Park. The staff are nice and helpful. The guest room is clean but small. There is no elevator, so if you're staying on the 3rd floor, be prepared to carry your luggage up and down the stairs. Steven, the store manager, is an interesting young businessman. He obviously enjoys literature and good conversation. There are plenty of books in the lobby, and he is a cultured person you'd enjoy talking to. The star rating on Expedia might confuse guests. Thirty One isn't a standard hotel — it's more of a homestay. Here, you can meet nice people, experience the local culture, and enjoy easy access to the Tianmen cable car. But don't expect a 5-star hotel experience.
