The room (shower in particular) smelled of sewage. And since housekeeping did not clean the bathroom or even vacuum, I guess no one knew until we stayed in the room. We had unpacked so I did not try to move rooms, so I don't know if this is common. Housekeeping just made the bed - did not even give us fresh cups and glasses. I would have preferred no housekeeping and then would not have had expectations of a clean room. I should have complained earlier in our stay, but I kept thinking it was a one-off issue and would get better.

The rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast is good buffet with planty of choices. Two queen beds. No gym but a big swimming pool. Gluten free bread in the restaurant.the place is crowded with bugs and flies like all Australia. Many animals around which is very nice. The dessert around is red and spectacular. A nice place to visit. 2 days are a bit too much. Go in the evening to outback restaurants place which has an amazing singer food and atmosphere. Eventually there are two nice big rocks and dessert views. Not much else to do. Consider other places to waste your money and time

What a wonderful hotel on the Esplanade in Cairns. We a slight issue that Amanda at the desk took care of right away. We enjoyed seeing her smiling face as we left for our adventures. The room was clean and tidy. They have a van that will take you to the wharf 4 times a day. We walked to the wharf it was a short 20 minute enjoyable stroll down on the Esplanade. Less than a 10 minute walk on the Esplanade was Muddy's Cafe our favorite place for breakfast to start the day.

I had a wonderful stay at Sails in the Desert. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully designed with touches that reflected the local landscape. The staff were warm and attentive. The dining options, however, could be improved. Vegetarian and vegan choices were very limited, and it would have been better to see more variety, especially considering the price of the buffet breakfast and dinner. For the cost, a wider range of options would make the dining experience much more enjoyable. Overall, the resort offered a relaxing and memorable stay, with its proximity to Uluru making it the perfect base for exploring the area.
