Sunrise pours straight into Fox Inn when you fold back the accordion door that spans the whole living and dining room, high on a hilltop in Yucca Valley's Western Hills. Read on the outdoor bed above the boulder field, cool off in the seasonal cowboy tub (closed November through March), then take the hot tub at dusk while the fire pit warms up. Three bedrooms, bamboo sheets and a primary with its own patio. Set an alarm once, for sunrise.



The Space:

Fox Inn is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home completed in late 2021, sitting on a hilltop overlooking Yucca Valley. A huge accordion door spans the entire living and dining area, so when it folds open the room becomes part of the patio and the boulders feel close enough to touch. Inside, a warm wood ceiling, paper lantern pendants, oval windows and plenty of plants keep things bright and easy, and the sunrise to the east is a highlight each morning. It suits families and small groups of up to six. Fold the door all the way open and leave it that way.

-Outdoor Amenities-

Start with coffee on the patio while the sun comes up in the east, then take a book out to the outdoor bed, set right on the rocks above the boulder field. On hot afternoons, the sun deck is the place to be: stretch out on a wood lounger and slip into the cowboy tub whenever you need to cool off (it is not an in-ground pool and is closed November through March). Rinse off in the outdoor shower.

As the light softens, the boulders glow and the valley comes into view below. Grill dinner on the propane BBQ and eat at the patio table, then gather on the outdoor couch and poufs around the propane fire pit. End the night in the hot tub, looking out over the boulders as the valley lights come on. The yard is not fully fenced. Covered parking and a Level 2 EV charger are available.



-Living Area-

With the accordion door open, the living room has no real edge, just a sofa, a pair of rounded ottomans and the hills beyond. Queue up a playlist on the Bluetooth sound system, pull a novel from the shelf or start a board game, then dim the lights as evening settles in. A TV is there for movie night.



-Kitchen and Dining-

Paper lanterns hang over the wood dining table for six, which faces the view through the open door. The fully equipped kitchen has a gas stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, blender, kettle, drip coffee maker and French press, with professional cooking utensils. Brew a pot of the complimentary Joshua Tree Coffee Co. coffee, pull a stool up to the counter and watch the morning arrive. Dinner can move out to the patio table by the boulders.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

Fox Inn sleeps up to six in three bedrooms. The primary bedroom pairs a king bed and wood headboard with a private patio and an ensuite bathroom, so you can step outside with your coffee before anyone else is up. The second bedroom has a queen bed, an arched mirror and a smart TV, and the third has a king bed. Every bed has bamboo sheets. Both bathrooms have glass or walk-in showers. A crib and high chair are available on request.



-Surrounding Area-

The Copper Room at the historic airport is close by for a drink, and so is Old Town Yucca Valley. Save La Copine and Giant Rock Meeting Room, Pappy & Harriet's and the West Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park for other days, then come home in time to watch the boulders turn gold.

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



There are no dirt roads to the house, and there is cell phone coverage at the property.



Other Things to Note:

-Cowboy Tub-

The pool at Fox Inn is a cowboy tub, not an in-ground pool. The cowboy tub is drained and unavailable for guest use during the winter months (November through March) to prevent the filter from freezing and breaking.



-House-Specific Rules-

► Please keep music at a reasonable volume and turn it off by the start of quiet hours.

► Please avoid using the hot tub right after it has been serviced, while chemical levels are temporarily higher.

► Weddings and events are by inquiry only and are subject to permits and applicable law.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The hot tub and cowboy tub are serviced Tuesdays and Fridays, and service may fall during your stay. Our technician will go directly to the backyard.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation how many dogs you are bringing. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed due to the owner's severe allergy.

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.
