Summary:
At Black Butterfly, the best part of a Yucca Valley getaway may be staying in. This striking, design-forward desert home opens through a wall of folding glass to a private pool, attached hot tub, and fire pit on two fenced acres. Bring another couple or a few close friends: two king suites offer room to spread out, while the heart of the house is made for spending time together.
The Space:
Black Butterfly plays with contrast. Its clean-lined charcoal exterior gives way to rich wood, dark stone, warm leather, and oversized woven lighting that softens the modern architecture. The open living spaces feel intimate rather than formal, with expansive glass bringing the desert landscape into view. Thoughtful details give the home the atmosphere of a boutique hotel, but with the freedom to settle in, make yourself comfortable, and spend the day entirely on your own terms.

-Outdoor Amenities-
The outdoor space feels like a natural extension of the house, with a long rectangular pool and attached raised hot tub just steps from the living room. Wide concrete pavers, sculptural agave, cacti, and mature Joshua trees give the patio a clean architectural feel without losing the character of the surrounding desert.
Spend an afternoon stretched out on a poolside lounger, take a swim between chapters of a book, or slip into the hot tub after a day exploring Joshua Tree. A BBQ grill makes it easy to keep meals casual and enjoy more time outside.
When evening arrives, the patio takes on a different atmosphere. The house glows through its expansive windows, the surrounding Joshua trees become silhouettes against the changing sky, and Adirondack chairs around the propane fire pit invite everyone to stay out a little longer. With two fully fenced acres, there's plenty of room to enjoy the quiet of the high desert.
-Living Area-
The living room has a warm, understated drama that makes it just as inviting on a slow morning as it is after dark. A generous leather sofa and wood-framed lounge chairs surround a low coffee table, while a dark stone fireplace wall anchors the space beneath two sculptural woven pendants.
Natural light pours through the oversized glass doors, which fold away to connect the room directly with the patio. Leave them open while everyone moves between the pool and the sofa, or settle in with a movie on the smart TV once the evening cools down.
The combination of soft furnishings, textured materials, and darker finishes makes this a particularly comfortable place to unwind without feeling disconnected from the outdoors.
-Kitchen and Dining-
The kitchen makes a statement with charcoal cabinetry, concrete countertops, and a substantial waterfall-edge island. Oversized woven pendants introduce warmth and texture, while the open layout keeps cooking and conversation together.
Start the morning with a fresh pot of locally sourced Joshua Tree coffee, then gather around the island to plan the day. The kitchen comes equipped with a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, cookware, dishes, and utensils, whether you're preparing breakfast before heading out or cooking a full dinner at home.
A dining table beside the island provides a comfortable place to share meals, linger over another glass of wine, or enjoy an evening together without leaving the house.
-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-
Black Butterfly has two beautifully appointed king suites, each designed to feel like a private retreat within the home. Deep-toned walls, arched wood-style headboards, wrought-iron chandeliers, and woven bedside lighting create a rich, restful atmosphere, while crisp white bedding adds a welcome contrast.
Both bedrooms have sliding glass doors opening directly onto the pool patio. Early risers can step outside with their morning coffee, while anyone who prefers a slower start can enjoy the quiet of their own suite.
Each bedroom also includes a private ensuite bathroom with a natural wood dual-sink vanity, tall backlit mirrors, brass fixtures, and a stone walk-in shower. These spacious, thoughtfully finished bathrooms make sharing the home with another couple especially comfortable.
The property accommodates up to six guests, with two king beds and an additional air mattress available in storage for flexible sleeping arrangements.
