The hotel location is ideal for exploring the local area. Our room was a good size and the bed was very comfy. However, the room & bathroom would benefit from a deep clean!

Lovely hotel in a great area. Nice friendly staff and breakfast was decent. We stayed in a classic double room as that was the only one available however it was definitely adequate, the bed was very comfy.

Definitely one we will visit again

Really enjoyable stay in a charming market town setting. The professionalism, courtesy and friendliness of the staff was a massive plus for us and something that is sadly all too rare in many of the places we stay. The room was very comfortable although the bizarre health and safety reasons for not being provided with an a rod to open the velux window in the bathroom is a classic example of "rules mad" UK. Not the fault of the staff or hotel I guess.

The bar was quaint, warm and snug. The restaurant wasn't as expected, food was pretty poor at dinner and breakfast, but luckily there are many cafes around to offer breakfasts and meals. Our room was 20, really small and dark, tv in a tiny alcove in the wall, not secured. Wardrobe was a tiny cupboard in the wall, with a few dusty shelves, and an iron and ironing board taking up the space, only able to hang a few items, no drawers. Kettle and coffee machine on window sill with no sockets nearby, had to put on floor to use, dangerous. View from the 2 tiny windows was the roof of the kitchen, with large vents and noise from kitchen vents. It was our 30th wedding anniversary and the manager was aware but made no reference to it, a small gesture goes a long way and would've made a big impression on us, would not choose to stay here again.

Moving beer barrels at 7am = not great. However, the staff are absolutely fantastic. They are very friendly, helpful, have a great sense of humour and nothing is too much trouble. Dinner and breakfast were very good. We were staying in the annexe but not far to run in the rain!! Thank you for the fizz for our celebration and a great stay 50 years after the first time we visited.

I would love to have given 5 stars for this property but 2 things let it down. 1. One member of staff who served breakfast was quite rude. All the other staff deserved 10/10 2. The room was quite noisy at night, being at the front of the hotel.

Lovely spacious room in the cottage. Everything was catered for. Options for breakfast and dinner. We had a lovely sitting outside area which was handy on one of the hottest days. We parked in the long stay car park but then the lady on reception informed us that after 5pm the street was quieter and we managed to park our car nearby.
