Bathroom was not clean. Staff came to clean it again, when showing me what she had done to clean it, she stepped inside the shower with dirty shoes. It got cleaner, but still not as clean as I would have expected. Especially sink looked like it wasn’t properly cleaned in a long time. Not that central (not familiar in York so K did not know) and I honestly thought it was a bit expensive for what it was. Booked two rooms that were the same type and price - one was significantly bigger than the other. Breakfast was great and everyone found something they liked. Gluten free bread provided upon request, other gluten free options are out on display.

Clean room lovely designed hotel. However, tv didn’t work had to get help from reception, then the shower was cold, when tried to adjust it the knob came off in my hand, had to go reception again. Also, small window in room with internal walkway on other side and so brightly lit all night it was like daylight coming in around curtain so bright. Would not want ground floor room by choice, shame as room let hotel down

Stayed in this hotel 4 years ago and really enjoyed it. This visit blew it away! The hotel has been fully refurbished, all areas absolutely beautiful. Rooms very well appointed and spotless! Comfy beds! Breakfast buffet has an excellent selection on offer! Staff we encountered during our 3 night stay were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Very good location. Good pub nearby. 10 minute walk to City Centre. Good breakfast and comfortable rooms. Marked down service as on our last morning we loaded our car took a walk into the City. We returned to use the toilet in our room before settling off 15 minutes before the check out time of noon. Our key cards wouldn’t work. When a staff member let us in the room was being used by other guests. The person on reception apologised and said it shouldn’t have happened. But it did.

Super hotel and staff. The ONLY problem that occurred was when I contacted the hotel a few days before our stay to ask if our twin rooms could be made up as doubles. The telephone receptionist was very patronising and told me that it couldn’t be done and that I didn’t understand! When we arrived at the hotel, the staff said that this could and should have been done for us. What shame that such a difficult member of staff should let the hotel down.

Great location

We have stayed here in a few rooms previously. The place had been renovated and only reopened a few months ago. The rooms have definitely got smaller, more compact then our previous rooms, asked staff incase I was imaging it and was advised with the renovation there were more rooms on most floors so smaller rooms. Parking was packed

Beautiful hotel lovely staff an excellent breakfast. Easy walking into York centre with lots of lovely pubs along the way. Would definitely visit again.

It has to be admitted the hotel is a maze which makes it difficult to find rooms when first you seek them. The car park is an asset. However it can be difficult to manoeuvrer a car and it is easy to be blocked in. The rooms are every thing you could hope for: quiet, comfortable and clean. the choice for breakfast was all I could ask for.

City hotel close to railway station which was the reason we left the car at home.York city center20 mins walk approx. Room fine for our needs as a base for sightseeing in York Breakfast choice excellent and the staff very helpful.Upon departure we left our luggage at the hotel until our train departure was imminent.
