The breakfast was excellent. Every single staff member we interacted with was lovely - friendly, helpful and quietly efficient. The grounds were stunning. We’d chosen one of the smaller bedrooms, but it didn’t matter as there were ample quiet and comfortable spots in the public areas. Gray’s Court is a wonderful haven right in the middle of York. A perfect location to see the city and actually very easy to get to as it is so near the city walls. Would recommend and hope to return

Everything just felt right. From the atmospheric courtyard, the cozy reception area and the long gallery for drinks through to the room and bathroom - it felt very welcoming and traditional. All the staff were amazingly helpful and really made us want to come back another time.

The reception was first class. The room very clean with a wonderfully comfortable bed. The breakfast was also very good but some might say lacked much choice ie fresh fruit etc. however all the staff we encountered were friendly and very helpful. The position of the hotel in York could not have been better Our visit took place on 29th March 2026.

Wonderful personal staff and attention to detail!

We had a lovely stay! Susanna made sure that we were well taken care of. All the staff has such pride in the grounds and history. The location is close to everything. Very nice breakfasts and even a bag with water and a snack for our travels when we checked out!
