ever again and put a chair against the door

Never again. Been to this hotel three times the first was poor , I had reduced expectations so the second was acceptable (just) This last visit was the worst stay ever. . Absent minded receptionist who didn’t notice us standing in front of her and then struggled to find the booking. We got our room in the downstairs stables block. Walking into the room we experienced a horrid smell, opened the windows and ten minutes it was ok. The room had a decent bed.a small bathroom. I had a very poor night sleep, with the people upstairs every movement and toilet use being heard. Surf ice to say I wasn’t happy . But managed to calm down for a poor cooked breakfast then I went out whilst my wife went back to the room.. once my wife was undressed ready for her shower the general manager walked into the room. They left immediately and later phoned my wife to apologise..but not to knock before entering any room is totally unacceptable. I didn’t learn this until I was half way home otherwise I would have raised hell at the time. Other things that are an issue tiny tv , dirty mouldy grout , loose taps and no hot water for my wife’s shower. Never going again to this pub . Or this chain . Initial complaint raised with the chain and I look forward to them contacting me. Initial feedback was reported that the manor contacted me directly but this is untrue

Great stay - thank you

The manager was really kind and helpful with guest who are not local to the area. He was speaking with some people who wanted to explore the area and even more so advising about their next stop. The menu was great and we ate in the garden as it was a lovely day. Really pleasant experience and we will return.
