Sustainable, organic, comfortable lodging in great

The most sustainable hotel I've stayed in - composting, not over-servicing linens, building itself, toiletries in room. Good gift shop and visitor center and food options are OK if you're hungry, but overall pretty stodgy, if organic, cafeteria food (no-one goes to Yellowstone for the food). Check your food is hot while in line, my hot breakfast was cold every day. Friendly staff, lots of car parking. The best base if you are aiming to explore many areas in Yellowstone, the Canyon area is central for day trips to Mammoth, geysers, Lamar Valley, Lake, etc and walking distance to the amazing canyon, which is the best place to star gaze. (PS the wifi is bad - slow, patchy. But you knew that).

Good hotel for family, No TV and Microwave

Nice hotel for family. Located next canyons, water falls. upgraded hotel with nice amenities. TV is not available, so kids were little disappointed. Microwave is not available otherwise it would have been even better.

    • Disliked: Amenities

Unique: No tvs. No pool. No included breakfast. Small room. Squeaky headboard. And no rollaway bed for our kiddo. BUT yet...over $300 for 1 night! Insane. Absolutely INSANE price for what you get....or don't get rather. Really. Its a huge lodge and you get nothing but a bed and a shower, for $300 dollars. Then you get to spend even more money at the shops close by. Seriosuly these folks need to cut that cost down for visitors to stay. We would have drove another hour to stay elsewhere, but didn't know it didn't have these amenities. Yeesh.

    Great location

It was a perfect place for my family to stay during our two days in Yellowstone. We have always done just a day trip to YNP - but staying at Canyon Lodge allowed us to see more of the park without feeling rushed. It is basically right in the middle of the park! The room was very clean and decorated nicely.
