Lonesome Dove - Spacious Log Cabin on 8 Acres, Ample Outdoor Amenities

Lonesome Dove Lodge is a truly unique custom built cabin with 7-inch log exterior walls, nestled in the hill country on nearly 8 private acres. This property is perfect for couples looking for a fun bonding weekend or memorable family getaways. The first thing you'll notice is the tranquil Koi-filled pond with two waterfall features just off front porch. There is a walkway that leads you over the pond to a large deck under a canopy of shade trees, perfect for lounging in the afternoons.

Inside the cabin is an open kitchen and living room that features custom built birch cabinets and three hand made Tiffany-style chandeliers. The master bedroom has a king size bed and an en-suite bathroom. There are three more bedrooms each offering a king size bed and one bedroom with a queen size bed. Every bedroom is equipped with a flat screen TV.

Off the back of the house is a screened-in porch that makes a great place to sip your morning coffee bug-free. There is also a large patio with lounge furniture, a brand new hot tub, and a propane grill. The pool area is completely fenced and also has a nice pavilion offering shade while you watch others splash around in the pool.

CHECK-IN/OUT TIMES: Check-in time is 4:00 pm and check-out time is 10:00 am. Luggage storage is unavailable while the home is being prepared for your arrival. We recommend making travel plans accordingly.

SELF CHECK-IN REQUIREMENTS: All reservations will be required to sign a rental agreement and provide Hills of Texas Lodging with a valid credit card to be placed on file for their stay. In lieu of charging a damage deposit or non-refundable damage waiver, a temporary hold of $500 will be placed on a credit card upon arrival for incidentals (just like they do at hotels). We are basically just verifying with your financial institution that sufficient funds are available in the event they were needed to cover property damage(s). If there are no property damages, the card will not be charged.

AGE REQUIREMENT: Everyone participating in the reservation must be over age 25 or if accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

MAX OCCUPANCY: The maximum capacity for this home is 10 guests (including children). No visitors or day guests are allowed. Only the guests registered in this reservation are allowed onsite. If it is discovered that guests are over occupying the property, it will result in eviction.

PET POLICY: Pets are only allowed if they have been registered prior to your arrival. A maximum of 2 dogs are allowed and a pet fee of $25.00 per pet, per night will be added to the reservation after approval. Non-registered pets are strictly forbidden and will result in forfeiture of the full security deposit.

Lonesome Dove was the perfect location for our fall family gathering. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. There was plenty of room for us all with a large dining table, spacious living room, big enclosed porch, deck, and front porch. We enjoyed using the hot tub and even the pool on a couple warm afternoons. The kitchen had everything we needed. The grounds and koi pond were peaceful and beautiful.

Lonesome Dove had everything we needed to hang out, visit and enjoy a family vacation. We brought pool volleyball and spent time playing in the pool. We floated several rivers and all were within 30 minutes of the house. So many beautiful sitting areas to enjoy. We sat on both porches and enjoyed the rain when it came and spent time sitting on the patio around the Koi pond. Lovely stay.

This was a great property for our family of 6 adults and 4 kids - ages 7 months to 6 years. The layout of the home was great for sleeping babies and the outdoor areas were well designed to keep kids contained. We spent a lot of time in the pool which was great for children. The fish pond was also a hit. We saw deer and hummingbirds. We would definitely return.

Great place , nice view and pool . Lots of full baths ! Big family room with high ceilings!! A lot of seating areas , including pool front porch, back screen porch, barbecue hot tub area, Koi Pond area with lots of deer on property.

Great family getaway

Beautiful property, well furnished and equipped. Has several large gathering spaces.This was a mature siblings and spouses getaway. The height of the beds did present a problem for a few of us. There were several step stools but were a bit precarious for our mobility impaired. A little disappointing, especially since Lonesome Dove is one of the few, maybe only, properties in the area with 5 bedrooms on ground level.

Great girls weekend at Lonesome Dove

Our group of six college friends had the pleasure of staying at Lonesome Dove. The house was more than adequate for our needs, and we certainly enjoyed the pool each day. We also enjoyed the lovely deck in the front of the house with the waterfall and pond. The house was very clean, which can be difficult to achieve in the country. Please note that some of the beds are quite tall, and we were grateful that some rooms came with stools to help us get into bed. The kitchen was well-equipped, and having two refrigerators and freezers was a nice touch. We are absolutely hoping to stay there again.

Laid Back & Secluded

Loved that this place has 5 bedrooms and 3 of them have bathrooms. A 4th bathroom is located close to the other 2 bedrooms. Location is down a long, narrow, winding road. Once at the house, you do not see anything except the beautiful hill country. No road noise, but you will hear plenty of FROGS! There is a nice little pond in the front yard with a fountain and lots of frogs. They stay around the pond, so you aren't seeing them, just hearing them. The pool is amazing! Would be nice if there was lighting around the pool and along the path to the pool. There were several solar lights along the pathway and around the deck but very few of them worked. We would definitely love to stay here again in the future.

Great place for family fun!

Beautiful area, not 100% clean...

Overall the property was beautiful and pretty much what was expected. I am a little concerned that the enclosed patio was so dirty - there were literal cobwebs under all the furniture. And when I cleaned up water off the floor inside, the towel came up with a dirt mark, which tells me the floor was not cleaned well beyond maybe a sweeping. Lastly, there was a singular false eyelash sitting by the pool. I was the only one able to use the pool during the trip and I most definitely do not wear false lashes.There was also a dead scorpion in the pool, so I'm not sure the pool was cleaned out in between visits. Or that the pool area was cleaned period. The property is great, but for the price, I expected pristine cleanliness.

Family Vacation

The property is private and expansive. The outdoor areas rival those of the indoor areas. The house comfortably accomodated our family of 8 adults, 2 small children, and 2 dogs with another bedroom to spare. It was a wonderful place to enjoy time together.
