Heron Hideaway is a charming waterfront house located on Kerr Scott Lake, situated between Boone and Wilkesboro. The property features a private dock and stunning views of the lake, mountains, and sunsets, making it the perfect destination for a family vacation. Conveniently located just 6 miles from Wilkesboro and 25 miles from Boone, you'll have easy access to shopping, dining, and everything the High Country offers—all within a half-hour drive.

At Heron Hideaway, you can enjoy a variety of activities, including water skiing, fishing, paddling, swimming, and cruising on Kerr Scott Lake. Foothills Outdoor Adventures is less than 5 miles away and offers rentals for tubing, canoeing, paddleboarding, pontoon boats, and more. You can bring your own boat or rent one from a nearby marina. The house also offers a hot tub and a pool table. The floating dock at the end of an outdoor stairway provides deep-water access, plus kayaks for guest use and plenty of space to bask in the sunshine! With its private, wooded waterfront on Kerr Scott Lake, this location promises a memorable family getaway.

Enjoy breathtaking views from the sunroom, which includes a large dining table, rocking chairs, and comfortable seating. The lake view beautifully frames the hot tub and gas grill on the back deck. The open kitchen offers ample space and granite countertops for easy meal prep. The main floor features a king bedroom with a private bathroom; upstairs, two sleeping areas share a jack-and-jill bathroom; and the lower level includes two twin beds in the common area, plus a TV, a couch, games, and a pool table.

You'll find life jackets for all ages in the lower-level closet, along with an inflatable stand-up paddleboard (SUP) and a ROC backpack that includes a pump and instructions. The supplied paddles are in a stand on the right side of the home. The main level has central heating and air conditioning, while the lower and upper levels have heating and A/C for year-round comfort. Two pets are welcome with a reservation; additional pet fees will apply.

Nice getaway

Our family enjoyed the beautiful views from the sunroom and the quiet getaway. There was plenty of activities to keep the teens occupied. We enjoyed nearby mountain bike trails, games provided at the home, local dining and donuts. We left feeling very relaxed, and we would definitely stay again.

Lake house

House was VERY clean. Kitchen was well stocked. Jacuzzi worked great and pool table had straight cues and all the balls. Kids loved the video games. Lots of deer walking around. We enjoyed our stay.

The house and accommodations were very comfortable. The sunroom with large dining table was perfect for a large family breakfast with beautiful views. I did notice a few small insects on the lower level but they may have entered with traffic in and out. Nothing a quick spray wouldn’t take care of. Lovely home!

Lake house in the off season

The property was clean and the photos were accurate. We enjoyed our stay. It had not been used in a while and it was past lake season so that could be expected. Dishes left in the dishwasher had mold. Starter supplies from the property management company were minimal and there were no left over condiments, food or supplies from previous renters. Note to property managers, there is damage to the dock, probably from Helene. We were refugees from the Asheville area immediately after Helene.
