About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
Juniper Cottage is a quaint, two-bedroom Grade II listed property featuring white wooden cladding.
The cottage is perfect for winter breaks, offering the ideal setting for snuggling up by the log burner with a captivating novel. In summer, it's equally delightful for relaxing in the wild garden with a refreshing drink or a leisurely walk through the town to the beach.
You check in using a key box code. I am however local to the area, so if you need anything or have any questions, I am only a phone call away and a short drive!
Juniper Cottage boasts a prime location, just a two-minute stroll from the charming town centre and a few minutes further to the beach near the renowned Neptune pub – an ideal spot for enjoying sundowners while witnessing Whitstable's spectacular sunsets. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity of the Duncan Downs nature reserve, offering a wealth of exploration from tranquil woodlands to serene ponds, making for a delightful walk, especially in spring when the birds sing and frogs call. The scenic Crab and Winkle Line provides a fantastic cycle and walking route through beautiful woodlands, past the pond, all the way to the historic city of Canterbury. For those arriving by train, Whitstable Station is within easy walking distance, and a leisurely walk in the other direction will take you to the historic Whitstable Castle, perfect for picnics and enjoying the park
You have access to all areas in the property apart from the wall cupboards in the bedrooms and the attic bedroom.
Step inside Juniper Cottage and find yourself in the snug living room, where the log burner invites you to relax on the sofas with a board game or two. Beyond the staircase lies a fully equipped kitchen and diner, featuring varnished wooden worktops, a classic butler sink, an electric oven and hob, and a dishwasher for effortless cleanup. At the rear of the downstairs area, a spacious bathroom awaits, complete with a toilet, basin, and bath with an overhead shower, all decorated to create a relaxing atmosphere. In the warmer months, the delightful country garden offers a tranquil spot to enjoy a morning coffee on the decking. Ascend the stairs to discover two double bedrooms, each furnished with comfortable iron-framed beds and decorated in soothing earthy tones, perfect for a restful night's sleep.
While there are double yellow lines directly outside Juniper Cottage, free street parking is typically available on the roads to the rear of Canterbury Road, such as Swanfield Road and Belmont Road. For paid parking, the nearest option is the Shaftesbury Road car park or Whitstable Train Station. Parking can be more challenging during the high season; however, once you have parked, the cottage is conveniently located within walking distance of the town, beach, and shops. For alternative parking solutions, you can also consult the 'Just Park' website, where the Co-op car park directly opposite the house is available for reservations.
Juniper Cottage benefits from frequent bus services running between Whitstable, Herne Bay, and Canterbury, with bus stops conveniently located along High Street and Oxford Street. Whitstable train station, approximately a ten-minute walk from the town centre, offers regular services to Ramsgate and London. For shorter journeys or airport transfers, taxi services are readily available. For those traveling from further afield, the nearest airport is in London, and the ferry port is located in Dover.
No smoking.
Please keep a noise to a minimum after 10pm to respect the neighbours.
Please put the garden seating cushions away in the boiler cupboard opposite the back door once you have finished using them.
Please note: As the property is old and on a main road, some traffic noise may be heard in the front bedroom. However there is a white noise machine you can use if you are a light sleeper, that eliminates some of the noise.
